I am genuuinely bewildered, now that he's confirmed it, his reasoning for refusing to do that chambermaid task. He said it was nothing to to do with LadyC and all to do with a step he was unwilling to take because, it seems, it would have made him look foolish.

Can anyone throw any light on this?

I think it WAS because it was Lady C, but I don't blame him one little bit. If it had meant chambermaiding for any of the others, he probably would have seen it as just a bit of fun and joined in.

Doing it for Lady C would have been a different kettle of fish, because of her imperious, patronising nature, and also because she clearly hated him.

There's a vast difference in doing something you find demeaning for people you like, and who like you, and the opposite, so I totally get why it was 'out of his comfort zone.'

When he gets to the Versace he can look down his nose at all the bell hops, chambermaids, waiters, cleaners and others who do (in his eyes) demeaning jobs.
Total tosser IMO.

Funny he didn't want to look foolish dressed as a servant, because from the moment he walked into camp sweating, red faced and bloated with his moobs swinging around he looked utterly ridiculous

Did he, why because he is middle aged. When did they make that a crime

I agree, I've been so disappointed with him, he hasn't lived up to my expectations at all.
Glad he has gone, I would really love it if Ferne or Kieron win it now.

This. I thought he was going to be cheerful and quite fun, yet he was incredibly lazy a lot of the time. Whilst he'd have undoubtedly had a far better time had Lady C not been in there, I still think he'd have always been fairly downbeat.

But if he felt out of his comfort zone by being a servant, he wouldn't have done it for a friend either, even if it was for fun. A friend would have known not to ask him.

A point which seems to have been forgotten, that servant task wasn't just for Lady C as there were 3 of them in that Luxury pad, and he'd have had to be a servant to all of them at some time! There had to be another reason why he didn't want to do it.

After lurking on this forum for the last few weeks I'm surprised you find this offensive, there have been so many more posts than this that have been so close to the bone.

He was lying perhaps?

He feels anxious because on an inner level he knows he made a selfish and childish decision based on his dislike of Lady C that resulted in all the campmates losing hard earned dingo dimes (we saw him questioning it afterwards). In order to alleviate the inner tension he consciously constructs a justification which he repeats again and again until he almost convinces himself of its validity.
