Do you think these two were shock winners? I think so, was convinced Suzanne and Frankie were going to win both seasons. I was shocked when I heard Abby won.

Were these shock results?

Not for me. Both were my favourites from early on, partly as I loved both girls' before the show. Anita is my fav this year so hopefully she will follow suit although wouldn't mind a Jay or Georgia win.

Abby was a total shock to me - and not good one either! Caroline was expected, I think she had become the hot favourite in the later stages of the series, more so after Pixie and Jake were both booted out.

From her Charleston onwards, it was fairly obvious that Caroline was going to win. Prior to that, I thought she had a chance, but then the DO came and I wrote her off a bit.

Abbey's win is probably the only time I haven't been able to 'predict' the winner before the final. Of the four finalists that year, I genuinely considered her as the one with the smallest chance of winning (even factoring in that she must have outpolled Natalie in the SF).

Abbey yes. It really took a while for it to finally sink it for me. I couldn't believe it. To say how happy I was is an understatement ...it is one of those things you really , really wish to happen but couldnt possibly see happening....this may be an over-exaggeration for some people but it was nothing short of a miracle . I NEVER saw it coming; especially considering the opinions that quite a lot of people had about her.

Till this day, she will remain my favorite winner EVER (sorry Alesha ) mostly because I really enjoyed her season, liked her/her partnership and the unpredictability of her win (for me). I was shocked....like really shocked.

Caroline. No. The tide started turning towards her during the later weeks; She started building momentum at the end and until the finals. I expected her to win and wasnt surprised at all; And she was a forum's favorite; Abbey really wasn't (which made her win even more sweeter ) .

I don't think Caroline was. She was a fave on here and other places/polls. Possibly Abbey was .. it could have been anyone that year.

Not in the least shocked that Abby won. I didn't expect to like her, but found she was not only a very likeable person, but a good all round dancer.

I was shocked Caroline won. She did an excellent Charleston, but failed to get to grips with the more technical dances, especially the ballroom which was terrible.

I say shocked, but not surprised ...... Christopher Parker made the final in series 1, and Christopher Hollins won by only being able to dance the Charleston, so let's face it, what's dancing got to do with anything?

Caroline no (it was hers to lose when Jake left) but Abbey yes (I'm still trying to figure out how Susanna didn't win that one...)

I think that Susanna was ultimately too Marmite to win; she was obviously popular but there was also a significant anti-vote (not helped by the quality of her dancing falling off a cliff after Blackpool and never really recovering), which was eventually undiluted enough for someone else to sneak in there. Abbey won by virtue of being the least controversial of the final three.

You didn't see the vitriol about Susanna on here then? She was certainly popular with the viewing public, but on here she couldn't go a thing right. Anita's journey has been very similar to Susanna's, but she's escaped the abuse and nastiness thankfully.

Neither a shock.

Both shockin' though.

Abbey was a shock, yes. I wasn't really fussed that year who won. I just didn't want Susanna to win, but I was expecting it to be her. So it was a good shock

I think both deserved it but definitely was more shocked by Abbey.

Can see why people might think Caroline would be but she was my favourite from the start so wasn't as much of a shock

I did - and that was one of the reasons I couldn't wait for that particular series to be over.

I've learnt from experience that DS is rarely reflective of what the general consensus is, and Susanna was already being lined up to be ITV's new golden girl, so to see Lisa Snowd-sorry, Abbey win out of the blue was definitely a surprise at the time.

I think it's fair to say that the winner is generally someone well-liked on here - hence Pamela and Susanna not winning.

Well for me, Abbey was, Caroline wasn't.

You really think that? I've always noticed that the winners of strictly are the people who are most talked about on here, top the polls, and in particular have the biggest appreciation threads. If anything the odd year was Chris Hollins because he wasn't popular here

For me Abbey was a big shock, almost put me off, Still here. Very sad Natalie didn't win. Natalie is my all time favourite.

Caroline not at all. From her second semi-final dance onwards she received nothing but 40's and the only other 40 given that series was to Simon for his Argentine Tango so she was clearly the judges favourite, and whilst that doesn't always work out the same with the public being that far ahead with the judges is clear indicator you're doing something right.

Plus she was in the final with Mark and Simon who'd both been in the dance off three times and towards the end of the series so I think the only person we knew who could maybe polling more than her at that point was Frankie. I know Caroline had been in the DO and Frankie hadn't but Caroline's dance off stint was more of a fluke of a boring dance with a mid-table ranking when she hadn't reached her peak. Frankie kind of reached her peak a bit to soon with great dances in the beginning then wavered a bit towards the end. Whereas Caroline began to really hit the ground running from the week 10 onwards Then there's the fact both girls had quite a Latin heavy final and Caroline was always better at Latin whereas Frankie excelled in Ballroom kind of cemented the fate of that final.

Both Abbey and Caroline had been given the seal of approval by the judges for weeks before hand so they weren't a shock in that sense. Caroline was a popular favorite against Frankie (who wasn't quite as good) and two guys who weren't getting the public vote. Abbey was a bit of a shock as she wasn't the best technical dancer and both Sophie and Suzanna seemed to have a bigger fan base. She must have picked up a lot of votes from the audience of the final (after Len said she had the some of the best ballroom ever).

I don't think Tom was popular on here.

I agree with what seems to be the majority view here - Abbey was a surprise but not Caroline. I thought Natalie should have won comfortably that year, but I get the feeling that many viewers have voted for Aljaz hence Abbey won, undeservingly.
