Any fans of Olivia on here? Hugely popular in the 70s and 80s. Especially in America.

What's your favourite albums and singles by her?

Beautiful woman. Always so classy. Great run of 70s and 80s albums.

she was doing great in the uk until that eurovision debacle in 74 (?) when she did badly (not coming in the top 4! lol) and blamed the british public for voting for the wrong song to sing. that effectively ended her career until grease.

im not a fan as such, as imho her material was patchy, my favs were 'love song' 1971, and 'have you never been mellow' 1975. i also liked her cover of george harrisons 'what is love' 1972.

Olivia did actually come 4th in Eurovision and there were only 10 points separating her from the winning song, so she didn't do so bad. I don't think she was bitter about not winning. She was just starting to get big in America and decided to concentrate on that. Can't blame her.

I'm definitely a fan of Olivia.

I especially liked her albums from her Greatest Hits Vol 2 in 82, to her Back to Basics Album.

My favourite album is 'Soul Kiss' and favourite film is Xanadu, with Grease and Two of A Kind a close 2nd.

I also have her Gold 1 & 2, video DVD collection.

Her voice is heavenly.

You should try her earlier albums. Totally Hot and Physical are the best ones. Before that, she was less poppy, but many of those records are lovely.

Totally Hot is my favourite ONJ album, Boats Against The Current my favourite track. Fans should check out a seldom heard track, When You Wish Upon A Star from her Warm & Tender album. The last note is amazing.

I have all her albums, the ones I mentioned are just my faves. I wasn't too keen on her country era, but that is more because I don't like country music as much as her pop era.

Totally Hot and Physical are my faves of her previous albums.

Apart from being in Grease, it was her Greatest Hits album, that got me into her, and that featured Sam and Country Roads from her earlier career.

Here's another seldom heard gem from Olivia Neutron-Bomb, I wish a CD-quality version was available.

... oh she was, she berated the british public for not voting for the song she wanted them to pick. it was because of that that she went to america.

thats how i remember it.

Agreed - I watched a documentary about Eurovision last year, she's still pissed off about it!

Do you know the title of the song she wanted to pick or has it been recorded by herself or someone else since? Thank you in advance.

The songs are listed here, I have a feeling it was Angel Eyes but could be misremembering.

ETA - yes, it says so here - and this is the song.

It was Angel Eyes she favoured. It ended up being the B side of Long Live Love.

She went to America because she was selling millions of records there and none here!

Olivia is so polite she'd never berate anyone. I honestly don't think she would be sulking for 40 years. I doubt she gives a toss.
