File is created when you click on the "visit root junky" link and download the playstore zip file and extract files.

It will be in file usb_driver (proably in patch below if you extracted files to download directory. YOURUSERNAME is obviously your user name.

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Downloads\Amazon-Fire-5th-Gen-Install-Play-Store\Amazon-Fire-5th-Gen-Install-Play-Store\usb_driver

I already have 'adb' installed on my computer as I play around with firmware on another old tablet.

Can I just copy the batch file to my existing 'adb' folder or should I uninstall it and install the one from root junky? Perhaps it has some extra files that are needed?

Don't know for sure but there are a number of different adb versions. I would be inclined to use one with root junky.

The original post states that the procedure removes the ads.

I am confused, which post is correct?

The problem with this sort of procedure is that tney often are firmeware version specific. Maybe Amazon have made a firmware version change. It certainly worked on my fire 7.

Can you use google playstore now?

Yes, I can access Playstore.
I have firmware version 5.1.1.

One question......

Those 3 lines that are mentioned in the first post, am I right in believing the script does that automatically or should I have added the 3 lines to the file before running the script?

Those lines may not be needed if you already have adb drivers. On my fire, I (and others) could not use adb until I had modified the .inf file

Rootjunky supertool has now been updated and you can do everything (add google, root, change launcher etc) from one batch file.

Works for Fire OS 5.1.2 - just tried it,

I've tried using this and older versions but can't get it to work. Enable ADB is enabled.
When tring to run the software it says cannot find path.. It also opens my device manager..

Have you modified the android_winusb.inf file sections

[Google.NTamd64] & [Google.NTx86]

with these lines

;Amazon Fire
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_1949&PID_0222&REV_????&MI_01
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_1949&PID_0222&MI_01

and then ensured adb driver is installed. The hardware ids must match your device hardware id from device manager properties for the fire device (click on details tab, ans select hardware ids)

USB\VID_1949&PID_0222&REV_????&MI_00
USB\VID_1949&PID_0222&MI_00

Also, you need to run batch file with admin rights.
