i've got it in my mind that someone did a cover of 'have yourself a merry little christmas' but i can't for the life of me remember who the singer is. it's a sad version and by the end of the song she is practically wailing the lyrics. the singer had quite a gritty, raspy tone to her voice from what i remember. i've asked everyone i know but they don't know what i'm talking about. maybe i've made it up but any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Well .......I only really know the Ella Fitzgerald version but wouldn't say that was 'raspy'.....

Just played a couple of YouTube 'suggestions' for the song and a version by Kelly Clarkson is a bit shouty and wailing at the end

Could it be that one ?

First singer I thought of was Chrissie Hynde, but she doesn't "wail" at the top of her voice so it's probably not her version you're thinking of.

maybe wailing was the wrong word but that is the one i was thinking of! i remember the last part being a bit more, i don't what the correct word is, loud? brash? heavy? either way this is what i was looking for, thanks!
