He's not a withdraw kid plucked from anonymity - after all - he was in a boy band. So attention seeking and showing off, a performer, is what he does. But on this show, he seems dull.

You don't "explain" appeal you either get it or he's not your cup of tea.
And that is perfectly fine.

It exists, and I have measured it!

Explain Georgia's popularity she speaks in platitudes and squeaks, cries all the time, and won't stop going on about how she's from the North.

Explain Anita's popularity she's just so EARNEST and she won't stop going on about how she's not a trained dancer

Explain Katie's popularity, she just WRINKLES HER NOSE UP ALL THE TIME and it's really unprofessional to turn up so obviously drunk every episode

Explain Kellie's popularity she's so COMMON and she shrieks all the time and she can't even dress herself

and so on and so on

When hes on form hes the best dancer by a country mile. His jive was the best ive ever seen from a Celeb, he kept up with Aliona throughout. Hes nice, laid back and really doesnt know how good he is. That is what I like about him.

Jay may have been good at music and good looking so he did well in a boyband. You don't have to be an attention seeking, loud mouthed self-promoter if you're part of a group and it's all scripted and planned for you.”

Fair point!

My daughter was a big Wanted fan and many a time I'd taje her to meet them at the back of the venue. She was only 13 so I would stick around. I once spoke to Jay and he was exactly as he his here. He seemed more like an older brother to the others and was perfectly amiable (not sure of his actual age in comparison).

He just seems like an ordinary, mildly intelligent lad who dances. I can't see anything unusual in his personality or especially appealing for that matter. I don't mind him. Reminds me of a lot of people I know, including the slightly weird sense of humour

Jay seems a nice, perfectly pleasant, polite guy.

He's performed some really good dances (e.g. jive, ballroom tango), some quite good ones, and some other dances which in my view were a bit disappointing. No really bad performances.

That's his appeal to me. But there appear to be too many people on here trying to tap into his inner psyche.

There is nothing to see . He is bland and beige and that's about it .

I don't understand your question! What do you want to know?

A few people have actually "offered an explanation" as to what they see in him that they like. Although I'm not sure anyone actually has to explain themselves.

This can be discussed in one of the many other Jay threads.
