So 30s is not middle-aged for my £$€”

On yer bike
I'm 54 and not even approaching middle age in my mind and body (although it creaks at times lol). I'm fitter and healthier than most of my younger colleagues at work who are all off sick all the time.
The women older than Georgia in Strictly will be the fittest they have ever been probably.

Blimey, how old do you think Katie looks then?? If Anita looks about 30, but looks much older than Katie...makes Katie about Georgia's age...
Nah, only kidding, I guess you forgot to put Kellie's name in...or did you??

I can run 400m in 62 seconds, a mile in seven minutes and bench press 100Kg but I’ve felt middle-aged since I was 38. There's nothing wrong with that.

No, you're right! Meant to say Kellie looks much older than Katie!

If I had to put an age range on 'middle aged', I'd say 45 to 70. Since, sixty-something doesn't really seem old these days. However, I don't think there's any official figure.

I think calling anyone under 40 middle aged is a stretch, though!

But yes, good to see some more mature ladies doing well in the competition.

That the issue of full-time employment is clearly not a determining factor in my classification.

FWIW my rationale briefly is that an average life span is about 80 years; we tend to treat the turn of each decade as a major milestone; 8 sub-divisions is a bit much so let's have 4; by the age of 20 people are treated as adults in almost every respect and most restrictions / concessions associated with childhood no longer apply; similarly by around the age of 60 people start to receive important concessions (I'll be entitled to a free bus pass, for example) and progressively have to face certain restrictions; split the middle 40 years in two and that's my system.

Anyway, in terms of the topic the real point I was making is that 30-something is a bit young for middle-age.
