Georgia and Giovanni
I’m aware that I won’t be able to talk at all objectively about this pair – so I’ve set up this thread primarily as a means of gauging wider opinions on the forum.
In a recent poll on this forum about who people “wanted” in the final, Georgia and Giovanni received the second highest amount of votes, though I feel that given the DO last night there is a real possibility that they might not get there. My perception is that the majority of people rate Georgia’s dance ability highly, but is a victim of audience indifference perhaps fueled by an assumption that because of her dancing ability she would sail through to the final. Would others agree with this or are there other reasons for their comparative lack of popularity? Would people agree that if these two weren’t to make it through next week it would be a poorer final? |

That BIB resonates with me. I don't dislike Georgia, I just find her forgettable. |

Yes, I would agree, but given that Jay is never going to be in the DO, Georgia can beat any of the others if she's in it again next week, so she'll be there.
However, the lack of public support seems to indicate that she has no chance of lifting the glitterball, so as a contest it was pretty well over after week 3 and now it is stone dead. Which will delight all the Jay super fans, no doubt. |

James Jordan would agree with you
![]() He was [expletive] astonished that the 'best dance of the night' landed Geo and Gio in the DO. I agree too. I'm expecting her to be in the finals, though I don't for a moment suppose she'll win. Jay has won. It's unlikely (though possible) she'd be defeated in the DO if music/theme/teapots etc go against her and the other couple have great music/theme/teapots etc but even before that I'm hoping seeing her in the DO will have alerted folk that she isn't safe. Getting to the final is what will count as winning for Geo/Kellie/Anita/Katie

Yes they are definitely among the best dancers left ... if not THE best. Trouble is I hardly ever remember their routines .. especially their ballroom.
It wouldn't be like when Pixie left though ... imo. Trent choreographed some really different routines for her and you never knew what you would get so I was looking forward to their show dance. Georgia & Giovanni are a bit more predictable and I wouldn't feel like I'd missed out if I didn't get to see her show dance. Would much preferred to see Helen & Aljaz's best dances. Think Georgia should get there over Anita definitely but I think they share a fan base and that's why she ended up in the bottom two. The judges will most likely save them over anyone else and their fans have had a wake up call so I'm pretty sure she'll be there. |

I think the final is already poorer for not having Helen in it, so would be really disappointed to see Georgia leave in the semi final. I don't think she would though, as I don't believe she will be in the dance off again.

I used all of my 3 online votes on Georgia and have done since both Daniel and Kirsty have been out of the competition, prior to that when all three were in I voted one for each.

It's a bit weird with Georgia and Giovanni, I really like both of them, I've really like some of their dances, I just can't remember them 5 minutes after they've finished
But I'm fairly confident her visit to the bottom 2 was a combination of on first and the panic voting that went on for Anita. She'll make the final and probably the final 3, especially if she reprises her Charleston in the first part of the show. As was said in the NAT, if Giovanni stays long term, and at the moment I hope he does, I'm always going to struggle to remember who his first partner was. |

I absolutely agree. I feel quite sad that she is not going to be there and instead someone I find so bland is there instead (I know it's not her fault!) Helen had an awful lot more to give and was way more enjoyable and interesting to both watch dancing and also be interviewed. |

When people say she's forgettable, do they mean that she does the dances?
The others have all been given, or have crafted for themselves, a distinct tag line. Jay the terrified boy can dance! Anita has never danced before! Katie IS Anton's last chance! Kellie is marmite with bells on! Georgia, what's her story? She's an actress (her CV says) but the show didn't give her a script |

As I mentioned in another thread, Jay, Anita and Katie have the fanbases that are clearly in front.
Georgia has a dedicated fanbase who love her but not in the same numbers, and not enough have her as favourite (or at least not enough are as passionate enough to vote for her even if she is their favourite) However I think she is liked, I think many would concede that she has danced and performed very well in both ballroom and latin. Has produced some of the best, the trickiest and most challenging routines and has been consistently good. I think many may have her as their No2 and many more think she is very deserving of a final place. Anita, Jay and Katies fanbase are not going to change suddenly or stop voting. The only chance Georgia has (bearing in mind she must have had the worst or second to worst votes on Saturday) of beating Katie or Anita imo is if she is top of the leaderboard and enough people who either like her the best but haven't voted yet, decide to vote or enough casual voters (or voters of Jay, Anita, Kellie or Katie who stick in an extra vote for her too) if they realise shes in danger of not making it and feel she deserves it and vote for the first time. No one knows how many this will be though

They were at a disadvantage dancing first with a "nice" dance. The only thing that made it stand out was the teapot. I too find them, most of the time, forgettable. I do remember their tango, charleston and samba, her standout dances for me, in a good way. I like her, she's a good all rounder, but I won't be voting for her. I prefer Katie & Kellie above her.

Being northern is about all I can think of
(and a lot of other folk). Not sure what story could have been given to her -- maybe she needed some early crisis to define her, or to visibly hate her partner, or to fall in love with her partner, or to be Terrified of Blackpool, or to break her sticky-uppy shoulder, or something. Instead she's worked hard, not faltered and seems rather talented. My feeling is that she's doing really well in the competition but completely lost out in the peripheral stuff that would make a casual or uncommitted watcher engage with her. |

I think Georgia, unfortunately, doesn't inspire the manic fandom that Jay or Anita do. I think she's a lot of people's second favourites, I know she's probably mine. She's lovely and sweet but just a tad dull. She's probably the most consistent, but that doesn't really inspire many. I do hope she makes the final though.
She also suffers from having a first time pro, so she hasn't gained the votes that Aljaz or Pasha do. I love Giovanni, I hope he comes back as he's my favourite of the three new pros. |

G&G I didn't really notice until the Ghostbusters Tango, starting a run of four dances which were characterised by their verve and vivacity, JoVarney's imaginative choreo which put Georgia front and centre, and were enjoyably risky - she was out of her comfort zone, and though by no means perfect, made for great crowd pleasers and showcased how much progress she had made since the start of the series.
I wouldn't say the last two weeks have seen her drop back necessarily, but Jay's return to form and Kellie's barnstormers have caught my eye (and my votes). I was surprised to see them in the DO, but as others have said she's safe from eviction unless she's up against Jay (very unlikely) or possibly (judges' favourite?) Kellie. I take the "established fan base" theory for the conjecture it is. It's just as likely that there's just one or at the most two frontrunners, and the rest (including Georgia) are only scoring 5-8% of the public vote, and with churn, dance impact, running order and lots of other things, it's more or less pot luck how the bottom end of the leader board assembles itself each week. It's also reasonable to expect voter numbers to massively increase in the SF and F, making past performance pretty much irrelevant anyway. I think new voters will be less likely to vote personality and more on performance - the judges' verdict becomes more important. There's also the natural tendency for voters to want to be associated with success and spot the likely winners. There's no reason why if G&G give more explosive performances along the lines of their Samba and AS, they can't succeed. |

Interesting to hear people's opinions. Though I certainly wouldn't describe her as "forgettable" or "dull", I'd argue that she is simply more reserved and understated than other celebs. Interestingly those are character traits which she shares with Jay which makes it harder to understand the discrepancy between the two fan bases.

I think it was just something as simple as people thought she was safe being 2nd on the leader board and therefore didn't bother to vote. Which just goes to show always vote for your favourite even if they are top of the leaderboard.
