Tess and her weird affectation

Am I the only one who has observed the odd habit that Tess has when she announces the names of the couple who are next to dance?

When she does so, she seems not to be able to simply state the surname of the pro dancer but instead announces it with a silly sing--songy inflection to the second-last syllable of their name.

e.g. Gleb Sav-CHEN-ko...... Giovanni Per-NI-ce.... Janette Man-RA-ra....

The good thing is that she can't do it with Brendan or Natalie because their surnames are mono-syllabic, so I think they ought to bear this in mind when they engage pro dancers in future.

Since I've noticed that she does it, it's been driving me potty every week!

She has all manner of other bizarre vocal affectations but this one I find particularly off-putting.

Not to mention her gurning and her inability to stand without leaning on / hugging Claudia

I hate how she changes the way she pronounces Katie Derham's name. One week it's Katie Durham, the next it's Katie Derham.

Geez Tess gets a lot of hate on these forums, I personally don't find her half as annoying as I did Bruce

Aren't Russian names supposed to be pronounced with the emphasis on the penultimate syllable?

That may be the case but Russian isn't a language known for its singy-songy qualities. It's not simply about emphasis on that syllable but the way she delivers their names as if she were reading a pre-school chidren's story. The bit I placed in bold in each example is where the affectation begins but she seems incapable of simply saying their names without the strange and unnecessary inflections. She doesn't do that with the celebrity dancers names - only the pro dancers.

I'm more annoyed with her comments after each couple have finished their dance. She sounds like a robot talking to itself.

I found them equally annoying....

for the record I don't "hate" her, I just find her annoying.

I think it's because of Tess's pronunciation of Janette's name that I have to repeat "Janette Man-ra-ra" in a Scooby Doo-style voice every time I hear it aloud.

Oh yawnsville - another Tess bashing thread.

She's fine, not perfect, no one would be - that's it.

I think they're doing sterling work turning Tess into the straight woman for Claudia. Give them another 10 years and they'll be Morecambe and Wise

I have noticed Tess saying 'Katie Durham', which puzzles me a lot. I don't see where she gets an 'uh' out of 'Derham'.

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realise you were in charge around here, otherwise I would have run this topic past you before posting.

I post here infrequently and in very few threads and on that basis, I reserve the right to voice my opinion as freely as anyone else does. I'm not particularly prone to "bashing" anyone on this show as you will observe, if you care to look at my previous posts in this sub-forum.

Maybe it would be to the benefit of all of us if you produced a helpful spreadsheet outlining exactly which topics and individuals we may comment upon and discuss without being labelled and monitored by self-appointed forum guardians.

Only took her 12 series to learn how to say Ola's name 🙄 This series she finally said "Olla" and not "Oh-la" now she's leaving

I'd still take her any day over Bruce having watched him blather through the Strictly CIN special.

It's only the Ola pronunciation that ever really annoyed me about her, oh and her talking over the judges to fill silences. Just shut up and listen, you don't need to fill every second of dead air.

Oh, get over yourself!

You're free to start uninteresting repetitive threads, and I'm free to comment on them.

of course you are and you did, in an uninteresting way that added nothing to the discussion.
You are as free to like Tess as others to dislike her. You could have made a case for why the op should like her instead you chose to be snarky and you got the response you deserved; having received that, you chose to be snarky AND rude.

I really think that a lot people don't understand what the words "discussion forum" mean.

I checked and found no evidence that anyone else has mentioned this before, so your suggestion that the topic is repetitive appears to be entirely without foundation. (quelle surprise!)

If you find the thread topic to be SO "uninteresting", may I then ask why you bothered to read and then comment upon it?

I'll "get over myself" if and when it ever happens to suit me to do so....and in future please don't be so rude.

Of course! Try it, it's very satisfying...but maybe not if you're on a bus or in an important work meeting.

Actually, I use Shaggy's voice in work meetings... you know for the gravitas it brings.
