Why worry about the way Tess pronounces words, or the reason why she sometimes appears to change accents mid-sentence. It's really a non-issue.

If anyone still remembers the late John Thaw, even he, as an accomplished actor rarely managed a complete episode of anything he appeared in without several changes of accent. No one bothered about that, his acting was the main attraction.

With Tess her presentation and management is the main thing - not small changes in accent and so on.

Probably most people have inconsistent accents. I know that when I am "at home" my accent is markedly different to that used when I am addressing a group of strangers on some technical or educational issues.

Indeed, in family circles I may well say, for example, something like "'Ow are yer terday?", whereas in a different environment I may well say "How are you today?"

In terms of intonation, Claudia used to raise her voice when introducing/thanking interviewed couples on ITT. If production had an issue with it I am sure they would say so.

I'm not even remotely troubled by her accent...

e.g. Gleb Sav-CHEN-ko...... Giovanni Per-NI-ce.... Janette Man-RA-ra....

The good thing is that she can't do it with Brendan or Natalie because their surnames are mono-syllabic, so I think they ought to bear this in mind when they engage pro dancers in future.

Since I've noticed that she does it, it's been driving me potty every week!

She has all manner of other bizarre vocal affectations but this one I find particularly off-putting.”

oh give over....
nothing wrong with tess..million times better than willis flack or willowhead!

I have absolutely NO idea what you're talking about.

This is my opinion - an opinion to which I am just as entitled as anyone else.

I'm afraid you're just going to have to find a way of dealing with that stark reality.

Get over it, half the country speaks the same. To me Claudias southern accent is often hard to follow

I don't need to.

That's good to hear, I am a fan of Lulu Land.

The emphasis should be on the first syllable in the surname: SA vchenko
The name should be pronounced: GLYEP

Here is the correct pronunciation (see 10.25): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z1pdeW8kt0

Has anyone noticed how Tess grips the hand of the celeb when they are waiting for the judges remarks??? If she can't get hold of their hand, she is pawing their arms or shoulders. I keep shouting 'leave them alone' at the TV - this really annoys me!!!!

It does of course keep them in the right place and stop them moving off the spot where the producer wants them to stand.

What's the odds that she will be pronouncing it Katie you've got Anton into the semi final Dereham, this week?

To be fair Zoe piped her to the post on ITT last night.

Thank you SO much for pointing this out, BTW, now it's going to bother me every time! ”

Thanks goodness she's not an Aussie!

I'm not sure she can stand on her own.... she's always clinging onto / pawing at Claudia and I've seen Claudia bat her hands away a couple of times

Strange really, I do wonder just how comfortable she is being the "lead", its not a criticism some people like to be at the front but not in front others are more comfortable being in front. It would be a difficult gig for her to have turned down because that probably would have been quite career limiting

I like Tess and think she does a great job. Very smooth style of presentation and can think on her feet. I found Forsyth ( the huge egomaniac) very irritating and much prefer the prog now.

I'm so going to do that next time she says it!
