I think it must be Katie and Anton.
They are both very popular.

BACOFOIL!!

Without knowing the points for viewer votes, we do know Anita was at least 3 places above Georgia in the viewers vote (since that's how many they were separate by with the judges) so she was at least third most popular this past week.

It feels really odd that my 3 favourite pairings are still all there and still not hit the bottom 2 once, Inevitably one of them now will in the semis.

That 'Wouldn't it be great if Anton finally got to win' story is very powerful and might possibly be as powerful as Anita's 'never danced before'. And Anton's showdance will be ballroom and my personal belief is that the public love a full on Fred & Ginger ballroom showdance, even though most of the pros choose to do latin/disco for no reason I've ever understood.

And Georgia will get a huge bounce from being in the b2. And Kevin's never not got to the final and who knows what storylines he's got in store this week - and I'd have bet money last week that Kellie wouldn't get a bigger vote than Georgia.

Don't think you can write anyone off.”

Well I want her to win. Some weeks ago I'd have been happy for her to make the quarter finals, but there's been a growing realisation that I'm not alone in my support for Katie and Anton and that it wasn't completely out of the question that they could make the final.

And now? Already in the semis, and who's to say exactly how big their vote is? Sticking my neck out, but from many posts on this forum, I think a lot of their support is coming from SCD fans who are just happy to see a couple getting on with putting together some classy routines without all of the attendant tat we're subjected to these days.

I don't give a stuff if Anton can't or won't apply himself to garish takes on the salchambasa or whatever it is, executed to puerile themes and music better fitted to the Hokey Cokey. I started watching SCD back in Series 1 to see beautiful, elegant, whooshy, wafty ballroom dancing, and that's what we've been getting from Anton and Katie. Back to basics.

I am not alone. So Jaypets be afraid - be very afraid.

The bookmakers very rarely get things wrong. Believe me! There's a reason Jay and Aliona are hot favourites. The other 4 are playing for 2nd place.

I have been voting for Katie and Anita. Last week Katie got 2 votes and Anita got 1.

Ruling out any dance disasters then this week I will be voting for all but Kelie. It's not that I dislike Kellie but I do prefer the others. I really want to see show dances from both Anton and Gleb.

In my heart I'd love Anton to win and then bow out of the show gracefully but when it comes to the final (assuming my favourites are there) I'm not sure that I can stick with my heart and vote for Katie over either Georgia or Jay.

The only valid reason would be insiders who know the public vote piling money on them to win. Is that what you mean?

Jay
Anita
Katie
Kellie
Georgia
Helen

How do you think the voting is going in the lead up to the semi finals?”

You may be right about last week ..though kellie has been below georgia before, so it maybe changes depending on what dance and the running order they get, etc..
Am beginning to wonder if the judges are realising they can 'afford' to let jay and anita drift towards the bottom as they think the public vote will pick them up anyway...and yeah, jay was bottom 3 the week before blackpool, remember.

I haven't properly researched it or anything but I think they are often wrong. Wasn't Jake the favourite last year? A lot of people only vote in the final.

If Jay is still the hot favorite the day of the final and after the first 2 dances then I think that he'll win.

2013 was so hard to call ; even the bookmakers were at lost. They had Susanna as the favorite to win a few days before the finale with Abbey and Sophie very closely behind. The odds were so tight. But during the finale, they had Abbey as the favorite to win and she ended up winning.

Even when Jay didn't have good weeks, he was still the favorite to win. Anita continues to gain momentum ; Jay is peaking again at the right time so we'll see what happens

It is worth remembering that the semi-final and final may get extra viewers and they may just vote based on the dance on the day. All the talk of momentum and favorites will mean nothing to them.

Also, with two dances to learn in a week I suspect Anita and Katie may get exposed technically. Georgia just seems very competent and Kellie is a grafter so they're more likely to get both dances up to scratch.

Also IIRC Matt Baker was top with the bookies when Kara won in the final

This is why I said that it's worth checking the bookies odds the day of the finale; actually during the finale because they tend to change and it's actually VERY interesting to see how and why they change their odds.

I followed it very closely during the finale in 2013 as a Abbey fan .
Days before the finale , Susanna was the favorite to win. with Sophie/Abbey having the same odds and who were closely behind her. Natalie was a close 4th...then after the 2 dances in the finale : showdance and judges choice, Abbey was the favorite to win, with Susanna 2nd , Natalie 3rd and Sophie 4th

I can remember Kara being the favorite to win the day of the finale.

Helen could have got more votes than Kellie and still been in dance-off:
Georgia ~ Judges (5) + Public (1) = 6
Helen ~ Judges (3) + Public (3) = 6
Kellie ~ Judges (5) + Public (2) = 7

Most of the polls, bookies etc had Caroline ahead this time last year. We had the same sort of threads about 'foregone conclusions' etc.
Frankie was deemed a threat because she'd never been in a dance off and Simon appeared to be coming up on the rails. Not sure anyone took Mark seriously. But the polls and the bookies were right.
It's obvious though that things could change. It's a tight competition this year.
