So done a little research:

Jay Jive: 1.130M
Louis Showdance 1.127M
Jake salsa 900k
SophieCharleston 800k

I can't think of any dance that would have more views.
So was just wondering has Jays & Aliona's Jive in just 8 weeks become the most viewed strictly Celeb dance ever?

On YouTube? It would appear so. Not sure if it's geo-blocked or not though, that makes a difference for views.

The Jive is geoblocked none of the others are as far as I'm aware.

Jays Jive and Jakes Salsa are on the SCD channel,

Louis Showdance andSophies Charleston are on the BBC worldwide Channel.

This makes the fact he has the most views so quickly even more astounding.

In that case yes his viewing figures are incredibly impressive as YouTube only counts unique views the first time not repeat ones iirc (it's been a while since I've had to check YouTube viewing metrics though and I can't remember if it measures unique or total views now).

I seem to think that there was a older dances that had over 4m, but that was on the BBC channel and was series 5 or 6.

Yes Cadiva, the jive on YouTube is geoblocked to UK, so it's pretty remarkable.

I think that was a Vincent/Flavia dance so not a celeb one. Maybe their Samba?

I heard that they only count 5 a day from the same user.
But to be honest one would really need to work in YouTube to know the exact details as all the social media algorithms change almost weekly, so it's hard to really know.

Yeah I do it as part of my job now working for a digital marketing agency but we've only got two clients who actively use and promote on YouTube atm so I'm not up to date with their current metrics.

Ooh well done. I searched the BBC worldwide one for Strictly and couldn't find any higher than the Showdance. Are these from BBC worldwide?

Okay so 200,000 to go. That's probably not doable by the final, but give it a month

Your figure for J&A is incorrect though it's def 1.130 now

Apologies, I didn't mean that in an offensive way, I just thought that I have read so much stuff about social media and then when I went to an event by one of the major SM they told us that they change it constantly. It wasn't YouTube but they said all SM do it because of trying to be authentic and favour paid marketing as opposed to smart free marketing.

Anyway, I will take your word for it.
If they only count once, then it's even more remarkable considering its geoblocked.

I typed Strictly Come Dancing into youtube and sorted the videos out by highest viewed. I think they are!

I'll see if I can edit it In 8 weeks Jay's jive has had over 1m views, that's amazing.

I can't believe Ian saying Jodie was going to produce her breast isn't up there I must have watched that at least a million times.

The BBC used to take down videos not on its own channels. Smart phones were not that common even 5 years ago, so technology has moved on as well as the number of YT users. My guess is Lisa and Brendan's showdance would have a huge number of viewings. Plus so many videos from the early series are no longer on YT at all.

Just done a quick search by view count using the show's title and the first result is Kelly and Brendan's Rumba with 1,406,973. FAN_TA_STIC.

Jay and Aliona's Jive has now hit 1.46M views (Brendan and Kelly Rumba 1.41M)

So it is now officially the most viewed Strictly Pro/Celeb dance!

It's worth mentioning it's only taken 3 months for it to overtake a video added in 2009.

Also worth noting that Kelly andBrendans is posted on BBC worldwide and Jay and Aliona's is posted on SCD Channel and Geo blocked to the UK.

I would love to know how many views it would have clocked up unblocked!

Here in the US, the entirety of Week Three (movie week) on the official BBC/SCD YouTube channel is geoblocked, well the celeb dances anyway. The pro/group dances and behind the scenes and "Goodbye to Anthony" are not blocked.

If you take into consideration that it's the same bunch of people watching it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again ad nauseum, then yes, I can believe it's the most viewed...

Especially as all the others were only watched once 🙄

I didn't say the others were only watched it once; I just think (based on the fanbase) that some dances might be rewatched (ad infinitum) more times than some others.

That is extraordinary!

I've been posting the series top 20 dances on the YouTube viewings thread, but didn't bother this week now that the series is over.

Normally that jive increases by about 50 - 60,000 a week, but from the figure you've just posted, it has gone up by over 250,000 in one week!

I might take a look in a month's time to see whether any dances from the final make it to the top 20.

I think it will be all the people wanting to watch it again when they didn't do it in the final

Can someone explain what geoblocked means please, so all the ignoramuses like me understand?

Anyway well done J & A for having the top viewed dance in such a short time.
