If I leave the page and go back to it within a single session (i.e. my ISP is registered as landing on YouTube's website and is therefore tracked around it) it still won't count as a new view.
It's only if I leave the website completely and come back in a completely new browsing session on another occasion that it will consider it a new view.
There's also, from memory, restrictions on how many visits from the same IP are counted in the official viewing figures but they're cagey with letting those metrics out for advertising purposes.”
This is my understanding of the way YouTube registers viewing figures - and makes the numbers VERY impressive.
Back to YouTube views. How we decide the "most watched depends on a couple of variables:
A. Clip available for UK viewing only (available immediately)
B. Clip available officially worldwide on BBC youtube site ( seems to be made available around 2 years later).
Jay and Aliona's clip is miles ahead of any other clip if we only consider A) above.
If we only consider B) above it is still the highest viewed SCD clip.
l'm adding together ALL BBC clips from both A) and B) above to get total views.
Highest celebrity SCD video clips are:
1,478,173 Kelly and Brenden rumba
1,465,171 Jay and Aliona jive (UK only)
1,461,290 Alesha and Matthew jive
1,412,594 Ashley and Ola salsa
1,155,684 Louis and Flavia show dance UK only)
Nobody else breaks the million barrier and think it's reasonable to assume Jay's jive will be highest YouTube view very soon!
