It means geographically blocked, you can only watch it in the UK

Not viewable outside the UK. Or viewable to UK residents only.

The last two series of strictly, the dances have been put on the SCD channel, prior to that they went out onBBC worldwide channel which has far more subscribers so they hit a much wider audience.

For some reason the Jive was geoblocked. I don't know about the other week 3 dances just know the Jive was geo blocked.

Thanks both, even more amazing the number of views then. Why would they do that? Is it to do with copyright?

Wow, market analysts would pay handsomely for that level of understanding of the media streaming business

Just a wild guess based on his more "devoted" fanbase...
And you ought to to have different opinions on the thread, otherwise it will be shoved to the attic and merged with the appreciation thread, get it?

Touché!

Health and happiness to you and yours for the season that's in it.

YouTube metrics registers where a viewer is watching from and includes that within its viewing figures so while there will most definitely be repeat viewings, they are not then measured for each individual view so it has very probably had way more viewings than are being officially counted.

For example, if I go to it now and watch it, it will record my unique visit. If I watch the video again, it doesn't count it as a "new view". If I leave the page and go back to it within a single session (i.e. my ISP is registered as landing on YouTube's website and is therefore tracked around it) it still won't count as a new view.
It's only if I leave the website completely and come back in a completely new browsing session on another occasion that it will consider it a new view.

There's also, from memory, restrictions on how many visits from the same IP are counted in the official viewing figures but they're cagey with letting those metrics out for advertising purposes.

This is my understanding of the way YouTube registers viewing figures - and makes the numbers VERY impressive.

Back to YouTube views. How we decide the "most watched depends on a couple of variables:
A. Clip available for UK viewing only (available immediately)
B. Clip available officially worldwide on BBC youtube site ( seems to be made available around 2 years later).
Jay and Aliona's clip is miles ahead of any other clip if we only consider A) above.
If we only consider B) above it is still the highest viewed SCD clip.

l'm adding together ALL BBC clips from both A) and B) above to get total views.

Highest celebrity SCD video clips are:
1,478,173 Kelly and Brenden rumba
1,465,171 Jay and Aliona jive (UK only)
1,461,290 Alesha and Matthew jive
1,412,594 Ashley and Ola salsa
1,155,684 Louis and Flavia show dance UK only)

Nobody else breaks the million barrier and think it's reasonable to assume Jay's jive will be highest YouTube view very soon!

Only 5 views per person a day count though. I know people who haven't be watching the show who have gone on YouTube just to watch the Jive.

Kellie and Brendan's Rumba is 1.413M

Jay is already ahead

Edit are you saying that there are two versions of Kellie and Brendan's rumba that you've added together?

There are three official BBC sites that hold Strictly videos:
BBC Worldwide
BBC
BBC Strictly Come Dancing (UK only)

Yes I have added together the views from all sites to come up with a total. I want to have no doubt in my mind when Jay's Jive IS THE MOST viewed celebrity dance clip from Strictly EVER.

As at 10am on 24th the figures are:

Kelly & Brendan rumba
BBC Worldwide 1,413,733
BBC 64,634
Total 1,478,367

Jay & Aliona Jive
BBC Strictly Come Dancing 1,471,163

At the rate of views for each, the jive could become the most watched on Christmas Day!! But convinced it will be by the New Year.

Gonna find it hard to achieve the highest SCD view which goes to the professional pairing of Vincent & Flavia for their samba. On BBC Worldwide it has a massive 5 million plus views

I find it quite shocking that Lisa and Brendan's showdance only has 32 thousand or so hits. That is one of the all time great videos on Youtube.

Indeed it is!!!

But I think most of us like to watch the unofficial version (with the DS subtitles). It's a thing of beauty.

There is also a Jay week 3 video (including comments and scores) which has nearly 200k views .

Indeed. Though just to make it clear, the BBC strictly account is not geoblocked, just the jive.
On Facebook it has 3,875,842 views (and 87,952 likes) and while we thought that would be very unrealistic figure, it really is not as all the others have much lower views which correspond somehow the YouTube figures.

And there was a third one (also with comments) that was deleted that had also 300k views.
