I'd agree with this. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest to see it but unless it was done properly it would come across as nothing more than a gimmicky pandering to demands.
I'd much rather they did a proper competition with LGBT participants who could take part in however they preferred, dancing mixed or same sex or just have them take part in the main show dancing with a partner of whichever sex they preferred.

Sex partner week sounds like fun but why should it always be the same?

Okay say they had done a same sex partner week on this year's show - who do you all think would have been paired with who?

I'm thinking:
Jeremy and Gleb
Georgia and Janette
Jay and Aljaz

Just a few thoughts

Trouble is that a lot of the dance aesthetic is based around male and female body shapes - the man provides the frame, the woman bends back and is displayed. And because it is aesthetic-based, it'd look wrong with same sex couple unless one of them were masquerading as the other sex. In which case, was there a point except in displaying broad-mindedness (not that that's a bad thing of itself).

Which said, I do have a vague recollection of once seeing a clip on YouTube of maybe a US version/special where the challenge was for a couple to both dance convincingly and well as the opposite sex. May see if I can find it again later.

Of course some celebs (and indeed pro's) would stand much more chance than others. (And some would be a dis-ahhhstah one might pay money to avoid!) But it'd be an interesting dance challenge, for the women to have to lead and the men to have to go backwards in heels!

Just because there are a lot of homosexuals in the world of dance doesn't mean they have to dance with each other. Bit like when someone lays out a buffet table, you don't have to eat all of it

Sounds like someone is trying to get the X-factor audience back above the Strictly audience

LOL

Len would still point out the gapping (but given his inconsistent comments about content he probably wouldn't!)
