Has anyone got any tips on how to get rid of dry, chapped lips? I've tried every lip balm i can from cheap ones to more expensive ones like Burt's bee's & carmex even tried plain old Vaseline but nothing helps. When I have the lip balm on my lips it helps initially & my lips feel lovely not sore anymore but then the next day they go back to how they were I think the colder weather doesn't help either. I can't even wear lipstick as that dries them out even more & doesn't look good if your lips are dry & chapped.

Give them a gentle scrub in the evening with your cleanser and a face cloth and put moisturiser on before your lip product. I prefer lip balms without mineral oils - they seem to absorb better. During the day apply lip balm often, and if you're out in the cold cover your mouth with your scarf. Once your lips are back to normal you can ease off a bit - but not much

It might be available in stores. I tend to buy from Lovelula online so often get a discount, and free delivery.

I only ever use my usual face moisturiser ( a good quality one) as I find lip balms tend to have a short-term effect and can make the lips feel worse once they have worn off. Just moisturise a little when they feel dry (not very dry - prevention is the key).

Shea butter is good, as is a good lip balm containing said good stuff. Avoid mineral oils and petroleum products (such as Vaseline) at all costs but the best thing is to drink more water.

Gaye Hayman 'Lip Lift' is fantastic. Available from QVC and sometimes other sites. Been using it for years. Nothing like any other lip salve as it stays on and does not feel sticky. Worth a try. You can wear it under lipstick or on its own.

The only thing that worked for me was giving up lip balm entirely for a few weeks. It was hard but now I dont have to use it really at all.

You're lucky, I suffer from chapped Lips, especially in winter, which need something, but as I usually wear lipstick, only have to apply occasionally.

It's worth trying a change of toothpaste. Some have alcohol based ingredients which will make things worse.

I have this problem every winter. I drink about 3 litres of water a day, but my lips still crack. I've tried so many lip balms, but the only one that really helped was the blistex medplus. I put a load on at night, and then use throughout the day. If I ever switch, the lips crack again

Yep, leaving your lips 'alone' more or less is the best thing to do. Overuse of lip balms has only ever made the problem worse for me. Waste of money. I only now occasionally use Boots essentials lip balm because it's light as a feather.

I use Blistex Intensive Moisturiser. I put it on before I go to bed. Daytime I sometimes use ChapStick that's in a tube, not the lipstick type one.

Agree with you. I did use them but stopped last year and now just use vit E oil, works well.

Here's what I usually do and it really works for me as I have really soft lips:

After I brush my teeth, I clean my toothbrush then I dip it in a bit of granulated sugar. Then I use it to brush my lips gently. The granules help remove dead skin cells and makes your lips smoother instantly. Apply a good lip balm afterwards.

The Himalaya Lip Balm is amazing and probably the best one which I always buy. If my lips get crazy chapped I have a medicated one I order from Belarus.

Do NOT use Nivea, especially the blue one. It makes your lips drier and drier everytime you use it. EOS and Baby Lips are really popular, but I only really ever use it because it smells good and makes your lips very moist. I don't, however, think it has a long lasting effect.

My son has very dry chapped lips every winter I too use Blistex. i also keep a lump of coconut oil in a container and rub it on his lips several times each day. I find that instantly soothing for him

If no lip balms are helping then I'd assume your problem is mainly dehydration, try drinking a lot more water, besides that I've actually found the Matlow Swizzles Lip Balms to be really good as well as really cheap.
