Will they bring in a totally new dancer or do you think they'll use Joanne Clifton with a celeb again?

With Ola destined not to return next series , do you think that they will bring back Joanne as a main pro dancer ? OR would you want them too ?

Hopefully a new dancer cant stand Joanne& she's basically rubbish and worse than Anton. at least he can produce good dances for his partners and Joanne wouldn't be able to do this

sorry but Joanne is far from rubbish!

she had a dud of a dancer in Scott Mills and I dont think ANY pro would have been able to get him to produce a decent dance

as far as not being able to produce good dances for her celeb - she has only had 1! Scott - who had 2 left feet and no sense of anything at all in his body

give the girl a chance - she is an incredible ballroom dancer and she deserves another celeb to prove all the doubters and posts like this that she CAN teach a celeb and do a great job!

I think JC is a sublime dancer and she fully deserves another 'shot'.

Blimey, lets see her with someone with a bit of potential first. Judging by her stints on CC on ITT she explains things very clearly and well, I'd like to see her next year with someone she can bring on to see what she can really do.

I really would like to see what Joanne can do with a contender, she seems to be a good teacher. I don't really understand when they hire pros who come from the competitive world and lumber them with duffers, they did this with Iveta too. They might be good teachers but they're not miracle workers.

Definitely bring back Joanne. She's only had one series, with a duffer - she needs a chance with a contender and she was pretty good at explaining dance on ITT so she knows what she is talking about. Indeed bring in some more Brits ; the overseas pros are great but for heaven's sake this is a British show, there must be some home grown talent out there.

She was meant to be paired with a celeb. this year, so I don't see why not.
She is a terrific dancer and acquitted herself well on ITT; an asset to the show imo.

I'd be interested to hear what your qualifications are for making this assessment of her dance capability.
Joanne is a recent World Champion and has produced some memorable pro dances this year, widely praised on here by posters who are very knowledgeable about dance. Last year she was partnered with a complete duffer, so nothing to judge by there.

I'm tempted to think that it's just blind prejudice on your part, but that can't be true, surely?

In fairness to TPTB, I think a good part of the problem for the female pro's is that only a very few male celebs. turn out to be any good at all, so most female pro's are stuck with a duffer.

I dont think its a case of "bringing back Joanne"

she is there, she is part of Strictly - its just unfortunate that for whatever reason they didnt have a male celeb for her

hopefully they will bring back Anya now that Ola claims she isnt returning to Strictly

Yeah, as a rule world champions are super crappy, aren't they?

Well, if SCD follows the usual format , then there will only be 7 male celebs next year and they will only need 7 female Pros, so they have that total already with Joanne.

Having said that, I suppose they will take on an 8th female Pro to make up the numbers in the Pro dances.....but it would seem unfair to Joanne if she is left as the spare again, surely the new person should be the extra one next year.

I started out not liking Joanne but have changed my opinion of her after watching her on ITT> I know she was World Champion and would like to see what she could do with a half decent dancer. Unfortunately, as far as I'm concerned, I find it difficult to distance her from her brother whom I cannot stand.

I understood it was Anya's choice not to return

They need to get Jenna Johnson from DWTS over here. She's been in the troupe for the last 2 or 3 seasons and has never had a celeb, but she is hands down the best dancer on that show. If they won't have her we will!

Joanne was totally awesome in Choreography Corner.

I agree. I wish she could take over from Karen permanently... although I also wouldn't mind seeing what she can do with a celeb partner who isn't a dance duffer.

I agree. And the way she explained techniqued and demonstrated showed she would be an excellent teacher, given the chance.

Although Joanne must have been disappointed not to be part of the main competition this year, kudos to her for making the most of what opportunities she has been offered with great attitude. Her excellent choreography corner stints will have gone a long way to off-setting some of her slightly wacky appearances which were off-putting for some and she is a ballroom dancer of very high calibre in a show where none of the other female pros, excepting Natalie and Aliona, are (Oti may be but I haven't seen enough to judge).

I don't understand why these threads were merged - a thread about Ola's replacement and s thread about Joanne might overlap a little due to discussion of Joanne's prospects for next year, but they're not the same topic

It makes sense to give Joanne a chance as she's already part of the show and wasn't supposed to miss out this year. I'd love to see Iveta back, too. Did she choose to leave or did the Beeb have one of their clear outs? (I've noticed these seem to happen more frequently among the female pros, while certain ageing male pros linger on like a mature Stilton.)

I think Oti's primarily a Latin dancer.
