What gigs have you been to in 2015?
And which was your favourite?
It was a slow year for gigs in my world (not so album releases though) as I only got to a few. In June I saw The Who in Belfast supported by The Last Internationale (who I liked - they had good energy on stage). Then I saw ACDC in Dublin supported by Vintage Trouble. Then there was nothing until a couple of weeks ago when I saw Joanne Shaw Taylor (finally) in Belfast (I can't remember the band who supported her so they must have been pretty forgettable) and just last night I saw Whitesnake and Def Leppard (with guests Black Star Riders) again in Belfast. My favourite of those was without doubt Joanne Shaw Taylor. She blew me away with her passion on stage. To really appreciate this young woman you have to experience her live so if you have not yet seen her and get the chance you should grab it. |

It's been a very sparse year for me gig wise compared to how many I usually go to. But I did see:- Suicide (they were good and interesting but I'm not sure I'd go again) Puppini Sisters ( I have very diverse tastes )T-Rextasy (Islington o2 show, just excellent as usual) Queen + Adam Lambert. I went to the BBC broadcast New Years Eve show which was good but even better was the London O2 show 6 months later. and AC/DC while I was in Toronto in September. Was ok - but it was in like a park on the borders of the city and getting there and back was a total nightmare which dampened the enjoyment somewhat. They were all pretty good but Queen/Adam Lambert was definitely the best I saw this year. |

Slipknot & Korn - Amazing!
Coal Chamber & Soil - Brilliant Korn 20th Anniversary tour - Amazing again Marilyn Manson - Surprisingly good Got Def Leppard & Whitesnake next week. My favourite one music wise was Slipknot & Korn as it was my first time seeing them. Both bands had so much energy and pounded the songs out. The one I enjoyed the most was Coal Chamber & Soil, great small venue (Ritz in Manchester), got my photo taken with Soil lead singer and met 3 members of Coal Chamber in the pub afterwards. We had a great night |

Caught Duran Duran at London's O2 last night, great show.
Plenty of the old stuff played (Planet Earth, Rio, A View To A Kill, etc...) with a few surprises from the back catalogue that I've not heard Duran play live since the 80's (New Moon On Monday and I Don't Want Your Love). Plenty of new songs from the new album which sounded great. Guest appearance on Danceaphobia and Rio from Lindsay Lohan, rather bizarrely and a great warm up set from Seal who was in fine form. Great night out. |

gigs this year have included:
Brandi Carlile x 2 Mary Chapin Carpenter x 2 Gretchen Peters x 3 Kate Miller-Heidke Rosanne Cash Paul McCartney Fleetwood Mac Sadie Jemmett Nils Lofgren Don McLean Diana Krall and a superb solo acoustic performance from Lissie last night. Best/most enjoyable three: Paul McCartney-his voice may be going a bit these days but a nice long set and an excellent choice of songs Brandi Carlile-the pindrop tour-no amplification, the way she and the band carried it off was just superb Diana Krall-helped by the fact I'd bagged front row and was smack bang in front of the piano so coulds literally see every note she was playing!-the quality of her playing and the musicianship from the band and the overall atmosphere-although I still think she name-checks the band way too much! |

Curved Air Vesbim Floyd Richard Thompson Joanne Shaw Taylor Emily Portman Trio I'd agree that JST was pretty good - she's a tremendous guitarist - however, when it comes to great guitarists, nobody is better than Richard Thompson and I'd have to say that was my best gig of the year. I've got one more gig scheduled this year - the Albion Christmas Band this Friday. Should be suitably festive. |

![]() For me... Festivals: Ramblin Man Fair Planet Rockstock Royal Blood Anathema x 3 Halestorm Skindred x 2 Placebo Russian Circles Blues Pills x 2 Manic Street Preachers Paloma Faith Steven Wilson Lifehouse Joanne Shaw Taylor x 3 Opeth Delain & The Gentle Storm Leave's Eyes & Diabulus In Musica Epica & Eluveitie Crossfaith Mediaeval Baebes Nightwish (next week )My favourite three: Steve Wilson @ Royal Albert Hall, simply breathtaking. The highlight being Routine sung with Ninet Tayeb with Jess Cope's beautiful, unbelievably sad video as a backdrop. Steven Wilson - Routine Russian Circles. First time I'd seen them live, their musicianship is remarkable. Anathema. The first time I saw them this year they did a "reverse anthology" where they played tracks from every album from the latest to the first with original band members on each track. The best part of three hours of music and songs I've not heard played live for a very, very, long time. |

Slipknot + Korn + King 810 - Wembley Arena
Europe + Black Star Riders + The Amorettes - Shepherds Bush Halestorm + Nothing More - Camden Roundhouse Steel Panther + Skindred - Wembley Arena Download 2015: KISS, Motley Crue, Slash, Billy Idol, Blackberry Smoke, Tremonti, Cavalera Conspiracy - Donington Park AC/DC + Vintage Trouble - Hampden Stadium Ramblin' Man Fair 2015: Scorpions, Dream Theater, Blue Oyster Cult, Saxon, FM, Toseland, Blues Pills, Solstafir, Quireboys, Temperance Movement, Rival Sons, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Bernie Marsden, Greg Allman - Mote Park Halestorm + Halestorm Acoustic - KOKO Foo Fighters + Iggy Pop + Royal Blood - MK Bowl Motley Crue + Alice Cooper - Wembley Arena Skindred + Crossfaith + Hed PE - Brixton Academy Five Finger Death Punch + Skindred + As Lions + Arcane Roots - Wembley Arena Judas Priest + Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock - Brixton Academy Deep Purple + Rival Sons - O2 Arena Still to come: Def Leppard + Whitesnake + Black Star Riders - Wembley Arena The Darkness - Camden Roundhouse Top 3: Ramblin Man Festival: Finally seeing Scorpions live was amazing. And as the OP says, Joanne Shaw Taylor is stunning live too. Blues Pills and Rival Sons are both also fantastic up and coming bands and then Saxon got everyone nice and pumped up. A perfect weekend if ever there was one. Steel Panter + Skindred: Loads of people write off Steel Panther because they're a comedy band. Nevertheless, their show at Wembley Arena was frankly stunning. Brilliant stage presence, great inter-band banter, fantastic crowd interaction, a nice, long setlist. Steel Panther really set the bar for everyone else this year. Skindred are also one of my favourite bands so them supporting was great for me too. Judas Priest + Michael Schenker: Imagine a gig where you get to hear UFO's "Doctor Doctor" and "Rock Bottom", Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and Judas Priests' "Breaking the Law", "Painkiller", "You've Got Another Thing Comin'", "Electric Eye" and "Hell Bent For Leather" all in the space of about 2 hours. Yeah, it was that good. |

What was that like? I intended seeing them at Wembley but in the end I didn't bother going. Ditto Motley Crue last month. Seen them twice before and enjoyed it so as with Leppard/Whitesnake probably should've gone!

I've been to 23 gigs this year, plus Field Day Festival. Top 5 is difficult;
Father John Misty - De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Concorde 2, Brighton Spector - Patterns, Brighton Mac DeMarco - Field Day Jaakko Eino Kalevi - Green Door Store, Brighton That is based on a combination of set list, my personal enjoyment, the enthusiasm of the band, and how I felt after leaving. Would have liked to have seen Beach House, and Mac DeMarco outside of a festival. He sold out both his dates in London. Got 6 gigs lined up already for 2016, but I fear FJM will sell out his third show at the Roundhouse. |

I really enjoyed Ramblin' Man Fair, despite the weather on the Sunday although I spent most of my time on the Prog Stage.
