Will we see Jay's jive again?

I don’t want to see Jay and Aliona’s jive in the final. Would much rather one of their other dances.

My reason? That jive is iconic. The impact of it will never be repeated. Leave it on Youtube and other video sites for us to watch at our pleasure. Why give the judges the privilege of ‘correcting’ their marking anyway?

If they want to win SCD 2015 (and why wouldn't they) Their jive is a "no-brainer" really. Aliona is a smart cookie... She'll know this and Jay will do what he's told.

It would be like Jill and Darren not doing their Jive in their final. It just makes no sense.

Unless their show dance is jive based.

Yes, totally agree with this.

The jive was a perfect moment in time, and I'm not sure it would be possible to capture that again. I wouldn't want Jay & Aliona to take the risk of the repeat not living up to the original, and erasing the magic of the original performance.

I'd love to see their Tango again, or their Paso, Rumba or Charleston. Any of those would be worthy dances for the final. And I will be voting for them regardless

Maybe they will do a jive based showdance!

That's supposed to be their reasoning but they've clobbered a few couples now by giving them dances they didn't enjoy whilst others have got near favourites.

I can see why Jay might not pick the jive ... it'll be a brave decision but he couldn't really perform it better. It was perfect.

Tango please, if not and a jive/lindy hop based show-dance.
As soon as he messed up the QS I thought the judges would pick it if he got to the final. Not really fair if they do as they usually pick something with tiny faults ... like not enough hips/swivel etc.

Apparently NOT . I am REALLY hoping that the re-consider their decision.

Why does he need to do it again? It's not like every recording of the original will cease to exist if he doesn't dance it again. Couples favourite should be exactly that: if he prefers the Rumba or the Tango or whatever then he should do that.

Jay & Aliona WILL NOT be doing their Jive, they've chosen to do the QS instead.

The Spoiler Mole said Claudia interviewed Jay last nite and this is what he said ...

Quote:
“Jay's reasons are that essentially he doesn't want to risk jinxing his most accomplished dance.”

Apparently they're doing a Jive based Showdance for the final.

Well, I have to say, if true, I think that's a very big mistake. Hope they don't end up regretting it...

Maybe Aliona is so confident that they'll win that they don't need to do the Jive again.

What you think she knows they'll win so she'd rather turn up do a crap dance and laugh at how they still won?

C'mon if they choose the QS it's to prove he can do it and get the redemption dance and win votes that way, not because Aliona thinks she's got it in the bag!

Since when did not playing it safe equate to arrogance?

Also i highly doubt Jay doesn't have a say in it. It's been obvious for weeks on ITT and when he gets his scores that he's not enjoyed having to live up to it, if he didn't want to, Aliona wouldn't force him.

I would be disappointed if they did not do their Jive. That would be like Jill and Darren deciding not to do the jive for their final Dance.

It would be a genius move if they managed to mash it into a showdance.

A jive based showdance would not have the same impact as their original dance. The only other dance of theirs I really enjoyed was the tango. For all the others I was waiting to get that jive feeling and never did. We've been living and talking about that jive all series.

I don't think even repeating the original dance would have the same impact.

They could perform it better with more complex choreography added and it would still never have the OMFG what did I just see, quick rewind it, impact that the routine had in week 3.

They will never ever recapture it because it wasn't just the dance, it was the shock, the wow and the fact it was only week 3 where you still expect them to stumble through their routines.

BIB True.
Which is why like I said in their thread, it was probably his decision and not hers; she just went along with it. JMO
Aliona Vilani would have never NOT consider repeating that jive again in the finals. No way .

Totally disagree, Jay is much much more than just his Jive.

Exactly. It was a perfect storm. The right music, the right theme, the right choreography,, the right WTF moment when it came out in week three.

Yes, Aliona knows she can do it again to that standard but perhaps she understands putting too much pressure on Jay will make him mess up. I do think it was mainly his decision.

Of course if Jay & Aliona prefer to perform another dance because they like it better or think they've got a better chance of winning with something else then they're welcome to chose what they want but all this "oh they just don't want to spoil the moment" stuff is piffle. None of the legend of the original Holy Jive was diminished by a reperform and if he really doesn't think he's capable of doing it as well the second time then maybe he's not the dancer the show's trying to sell him as...

A lot of couples repeated WOW dances of the series and it still had the same impact in the finals and sometimes got even better the 2nd time so I am not buying this argument.
Kristina and Simon Argentine Tango from last year
Harry and Aliona Argentine Tango or Quickstep
.................. just to name a few.

I dont know a lot of people were desperate to see it again and oh the meltdown when they know that they are not going to see it again next week.
When Jay was through tonight, Most of the responses I saw online on twitter were : "OMG I cannot wait to see that jive again next week " ....sigh....

I think everyone would be expecting it.

I was a bit shocked Frankie didn't do her tango last year as it was amazing, however I understood about the green (still don't get why they couldn't do it over the break, it doesn't take that long!)
I think the result could have been different had she done that, but then again, you never know.”

BIB- I have a friend who is a tv make-up artist sitting right next to me who just went pfpfpthfthfthpfpfpt!!!1 (+ a few expletives) at that

When Jill repeated her jive it had the same impact, as did Ramps' salsa. It's the first time I can remember a couple not repeating their breathtaking showstopper dance of the series in the final. I think it's a bit of a cop out TBH.
