Hi..
I have some old home videos my dad took when i was a kid in the 80's on Betamax.. I would like to have transferred to DVD.. Anyone know if a high street name does this?? Problem I have is their are a fair few beatamax tapes and not sure whats on some of them.. So would need to be able to view some of them somehow.. Thanks... |

I suppose the ovious suggestion is to look on Ebay to see if you can find a recorder/player for Betamax. If you can find one you can probably copy sections yourself.

If you Google Betamax to DVD there seem to be quite a few companies that still do it. Once on DVD you can edit it on your computer if you wish and burn the edited copy. Buying something as ancient as a Betamax machine on ebay is obviously a bit risky and you will have to buy a video capture card or adaptor as well unless you have a DVD recorder.
You should be aware of the fact that depending on how they were stored the tapes may have deteriorated and no longer be playable. |

Transferred our wedding video from Betamax to DVD a few years ago, the tape didn't seem to have deteriorated but I had.
