Hi..

I have some old home videos my dad took when i was a kid in the 80's on Betamax..
I would like to have transferred to DVD..

Anyone know if a high street name does this??

Problem I have is their are a fair few beatamax tapes and not sure whats on some of them..

So would need to be able to view some of them somehow..

Thanks...

I suppose the ovious suggestion is to look on Ebay to see if you can find a recorder/player for Betamax. If you can find one you can probably copy sections yourself.

If you Google Betamax to DVD there seem to be quite a few companies that still do it. Once on DVD you can edit it on your computer if you wish and burn the edited copy. Buying something as ancient as a Betamax machine on ebay is obviously a bit risky and you will have to buy a video capture card or adaptor as well unless you have a DVD recorder.

You should be aware of the fact that depending on how they were stored the tapes may have deteriorated and no longer be playable.

Transferred our wedding video from Betamax to DVD a few years ago, the tape didn't seem to have deteriorated but I had.
