But for Strictly purposes AT is classified as Ballroom and the Charleston is classified as Latin. Not logical I grant you but that's the way they like to do it.

I doubt that would matter .. unless they've changed the rules. In series 7 Ali and Ricky both did AT's in the semis plus an AS for Ali and a Waltz for Ricky.
Perhaps Georgia will do an AT inspired show dance!? It would be a shame if she didn't get to learn a dance she was looking forward to.

Conspiracy theory : Because TPTB want them out of the competition.

Just kidding. I dont know. Maybe we will eventually get an explanation from either of them later in the week. I would like to know why as well because Georgia herself said that she was REALLY looking forward to dance it .

It's not that far-fetched...that Cha Cha song is criminal!

It's an anthem isn't it? ... I thought everyone loved it!? Great bit of 70's disco.

Great song, terrible for a Cha Cha, IMO.

TPTB gave her a disco song for Salsa too...give it a rest!

I think it might suit them both, well I hope it will.

Oh, I have no doubt they'll produce something spectacular out of it

^This

Swapping an AT to traditional music to a Cha Cha with 70's disco music, what a rubbish decision, whoever made it

All the others bar Kellie are doing and up tempo latin or Charleston so an AT if good had the potential to stand out and be a crowd pleaser and floating vote winner, so disappointed with the swap

Jusr for the record Argentine Tango does not necessitate or demand any lifts. If lifts were the issue that shouldn't really prevent an AT. It would be better and far more authentic to do the dance without any lifts.

If it's the producers decision they have no imagination

I thought Kimberley did a good Cha Cha to 'It's Raining Men' which is another 70's disco tune (okay it was fusion week .. but lots of Cha Cha in there.) Caroline also to 'Can You Feel It'.

Maybe they watched that and also been watching Priscilla Queen of the Desert because they perform I Will Survive in the West End musical - but obviously not as a cha cha!!!

That being true, I cannot recall seeing one on SCad without them.

I am pretty certain that is true but it doesn't alter the fact that AT does not typically involve lifts. Same goes for salsa too really although drops and dips are seen from time to time. Both are dances that evolved in crowded environments, clubs, cafes or dance halls and in those circumstances lifts woud be dangerous.

Its a real pity about Georgia's AT cancelation. I was hoping that Giovanni woudlhave some notion fo this dance as it is very popular in Italy and they had an absolutely first class track for AT (for once)

That may as well be the exact reason why they had to change it. But I'm not saying anything any more on this.

By what I said, I meant I suspect there would have been an expectation to include lifts, despite their inauthenticity.

I wanted to see a AT from Georgia though”

Yes it will probably score really high but my problem with this dance at this stage is the fact that it's not really a dance that inspire people to vote. Imo. Especially compared to the other dances.
I hope they do well. I don't like their song's choice but who knows ? Maybe it'll work.

Weird I just watched the Meet Georgia May Foote bit on the Strictly website and she said she's least looking forward to doing the AT as she thinks she'd trip herself up and gets her legs twisted everywhere!

Now bear in mind this was obviously filmed before the show began and she has since said she'd like to do it, but as we know they're not doing it now.

Oh and someone said maybe they were told to drop the AT because of the pro group dance on tonights ITT Joanne said they were doing a latin based group dance.

If she has influenza she could be out for a week and out of the competition.

Interesting situation. If she had to miss this week, there is no way she can have a free pass to the final. Would they cancel the vote and have the points from this weekend to carry on to the final or have a dance off and a three person final? Or no dance off and have only the public vote decide the final three? I know I'm getting way ahead of myself and I hope Georgia makes the final, but my preferred option would be no dance off and the public decide the final three.

If she has to miss out, they could bring back Helen, as a lucky looser kind of thing. Or would that be a move too far?

Hope she is well enough to do the show.

They'd then get flak because of people phoning in to vote last week and paying to do so. If it was all free online voting it would maybe have been a possibility.

I doubt very much she has influenza.

Quite often you are unable to even stand with the flu, much less dance, and she was filmed in training for both the VW and Cha Cha on ITT yesterday.
