I despair
If these candidates are the future of entrepreneurship.
The wife and I sit down to watch this show every week and cant believe some of the basic errors that they keep on making. From pitching, to making sure the figures are correct (basic math), to "specifications" (as Brett Likes to put it) and just all round simple common sense. I look at Joseph and I just cant take this guy seriously and I dont think Lord sugar does either. He is right in saying that Richard is the most sleekit slippery toad looking out for himself. Charlene is downright annoying and just barks orders. Vanna and Gary are probably the best of a bad bunch. At least they come off somewhat semi professional as they have been corporates but god knows how they will fair being an entrepreneurs. I think this year has been a really poor series. |

Joseph, Vana, Charleine and Richard already each run their own Business(es) don't they? I think only one remaining candidate can be considered "corporate"
![]() Where's the evidence LS doesn't take Joseph seriously? he licks his arse if anything. his aides couldn't have talked him up more on the "final 5 " show either |

Has the final 5 show been aired yet??
Sugar takes Joseph's abilities seriously, just not his appearance. I agree that the show doesn't exactly showcase competent people anymore, it's the presentations and pitches that get me, that are always so universally bad, in real life, when have you ever seen that? |

Ill admit that I never actually watched the final 5 show...
I'm just saying that I feel that Sugar keeps Joseph in for the show rather than his ability; more rather as a bit of lad. If he has blown smoke up his arse on the final 5 show, then maybe he does love him. Maybe he has a cracking business plan? If Vanna has her own business good luck to her; she just strikes me as someone who is very corporate. |

Anyone appearing on The Apprentice is not the future of entrepreneur ship as they are out there doing it, the future is now if you like.
With stating the bleeding obvious all five have a chance of winningm it's now down to who Sid wants to work with in an area he's interested in. |

Ok..
Gary and Vanna may have their own businesses but they dont strike me as entrepreneurial. I wouldnt have said they have done great in any of the tasks and they do also strike me as very corporate as Sugar says about Gary. Maybe their business plans will prove me wrong but i seriously doubt it. |

Vana said she has two businesses on the final 5 show last night, and I assume she's aiming to launch another through this Joseph, Charleine and Richard have ran their Businesses for a few years- Richard with his brother Quote:

^^ no it's the reason he was picked to do the Party task as in LAS's word's (it's right up your street", and he's mentioned at least twice that he left his job with Tesco's to start this business.

I feel like it's a very unnatural environment, and the tasks are mostly inappropriate for contestants skill sets. Not to mention the stupidly silly short time frames in which to complete tasks and all the other pressures. It actually reminds me of those "fish out of water" themed comedies you see from time to time. So although short term I can laugh at the silly mistakes and stuff, overall I have look at the contestants in the context of what they've achieved in real life before making any realistic judgements.

The tasks they are given with the resource and time constraints and all out of their comfort zones with the cameras constantly in your face and with Lord Sugar's lieutenants constantly peering over your shoulder - well it's enough to make anyone fall to pieces.

I agree somewhat with what you are saying there in regards to pressures and timeframes and that they arent used to certain tasks. I also feel that they are probably better working on their own or with colleagues they are used to.
I just think no matter what task they deal with, surely they must have the common sense to bring the business knowledge from their own businesses to the tasks. Its just about tweaking the genral rules of business. Im sure they have all pitched, calculated costs, built rapport and so on with customers before; so why do they seem to make a complete arse of it on the show. Probably just the fact that they are all out for the main prize and dont get on working with one another. |

I think Vana and Richard are pretty competent and Charlene has some good points - the rest not so much. Remember the really good people are out there doing it in the real world, its a very niche portion of business people applying for this show.

^^ This, it's not as if they go around and manually handpick 18 of the top Business People in the country or anything like that!

From seeing them all in the Final 5 episode about their lives, they seem so credible but when you see them on task, you question if they understand the plot at all. The concepts were good in the health food task were good but the execution was really bad; there was little attention to detail with the creation of products and the designing of packaging. I think the buyers were shocked at how bad they were at pitching and marketing; I got that impression from their reactions anyway. If you think back to last year, the buyers were clearly very impressed by Roisin's team as they managed to create a product that was very marketable in a short space of time.

Everything on TV is just for entertainment. If they were as talented as they'd like to believe they wouldn't be on some reality show sucking up to his lordship.

The whole concept of the tasks though don't consider repeat business which a business in RL would depend upon - or at least good reviews

The whole show is set up to make a fool out of the people who go on it for our entertainment. Karen and Claude would be just as bad in the same situations, if they were given the same amount of time to plan something they have no experience at doing! |

I've said several times this series how bad this lot are. Last year's final 2 would have wiped the floor with all of them there's just nothing stand out about any of them. I'm now taking into account the factors previously mentioned, time constraints tiredness etc but I would assume contestants have been under similar conditions in the past, yet their flair still managed to shine through.
