Other dances you'd like to see on Strictly

Is there a particular dance you would like to see on Strictly in addition to the existing dances or in place of one.

I've been looking at the lists of dances they do on the international versions of Strictly and they do other dances on some of those, for example:

France - they do mambo, bollywood and contemporary but don't do AT, VW or Salsa (or haven't yet)
Germany - contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, bollywood, rock 'n' roll
Australia - contemporary, freestyle, jazz, fusion + team dance
USA - Jazz, contemporary, freestyle
Poland - freestyle, jazz, disco, hip-hop
Argentina - ballet, street dance, disco, aqua dance, merengue and lots of other dance types but hardly any of the ones seen on SCD UK

I would like to see bollywood and maybe jazz. But would love to see fusion too

Apologise if this has been a thread before - I did look but couldn't find anything.

Wow Argentina has quite the diverse range! So they have pros who can dance and teach both ballet and street dance? Never mind aqua dance () and merengue?
That show sounds like it must be a hot mess.

As for the UK show, Bollywood and hip-hop sound intriguing but inevitably would be novelty and I doubt the pros would cope that well in general. It sounds like some of the other versions of the show must have more general dance pros rather than specialists. It would probably be a bad idea to add anything else at this stage unless it was at least reasonably similar to the current ones.

I'd be against going down the hip-hop, contemporary or jazz route, as a lot of stage school graduates might even be more qualified than the pros...

I'd be happy to see more Latin dances like the mambo and lambada.

How does aqua dance work on the show? Must be a logistical nightmare!

Debatably we already have disco I like the set of dances as they currently are (though I think the team dance concept is quite interesting- DWTS has produced some watchable ones)

The lindy hop/jitterbug and the mambo for sure. In fact I'm sure Strictly had rock and roll as dance one series, they introduced it the same time as they did the Charleston but never brought it back.

against any other dances as it would mean getting pros with knowledge of more styles which would normally mean less experience in modern and latin as it is with most of the other shows

I'd actually love to see Mambo and Lindy Hop but not any of the others... I always hate seeing Contemporary and Jazz whenever I watch DWTS because they end up looking like a freestyle or showdance.

Personally, none. I'm happy with what we've got, and would rather see the Charleston go than have any new ones.

I could happily lose the Charleston too

What is the aqua dance first time that Im hearing about it

I will happily lose the charleston.

I would like to see the mambo on strictly. Kristina is a mambo champion and specialist

I don't want to see the hip hop, jazz or contemporary on strictly; and even bollywood dancing. There's a lot of training and art that goes into it. The bollywood pro dance from last year was awful . If they can't even get it right, how will their celebrities fare The placement of the hands, head, ....all of it has a specific meaning behind it.

I used to watch Dancing With The Stars, the Irish RTE channel used to show it over two nights.

I do remember the Charleston and the Lindy Hop they also did the Jive. This was about two years before the Charleston arrived in Strictly. I was expecting the Lindy Hop to come but it never did.

I wish they would lose the Rhumba, but know that will never happened. I would like the Lindy Hop to come over. The Charleston is very popular, so cannot see it going.

You have to watch the Brazilian version then

Freestyle is the same thing as Showdance in this case. And I... somehow don't think we should be taking any tips from Strictly Argentina...

I've been lnown to suggest Old Time, military two step and all that. Would make a good "a-thon" round and sort the wheat from the chaff!

I think with some dances it can feel like the same old thing every time which after many weeks can make it repetitive. It may not have been everyone's cup of tea but I liked how Kellie's VW was done quite differently from usual. This is one of my least favourite dances and is often a bit dull but that showed you can still change it up and make it feel fresh. I also get tired of Len demanding traditional versions because that ultimately means broadly similar versions every time. Many dances can still be varied but it still limits that.

I like to see the pros sometimes put together fresh takes on the dances (even if that means straying quite far from the traditional moves). Not all the time but as a regular aspect. Possibly my favourite Charleston was the one that Artem did with Holly which had a modern feel and was much less goofy. Artem was often good at putting modern twists on the dances but then Len would moan and give low marks.

Speaking of the Charleston, I thought that added a great fresh new dance initially and used to really look forward to it. More recently, however, especially this year, it has started to feel too predictable. It just feels like the same old schtick every time with the only constructive criticism being "more swivel". It is also clearly easier to get higher marks even with a relatively unimpressive effort on the part of the celeb. I would like to see someone try to do something unconventional like a slower version or a fiery/more intense version. It might not work but at least it would be something different. If it happened, though, the judges would probably say they didn't capture the correct feel and quirkiness. In other words, "we want it the same as all the other times". It might be worth using it more sparely (I wouldn't want to lose it completely) so that it can still feel interesting.

I do have a soft spot for the lindy hop and mamba.

I wouldn't be against some hip hop either, although I know that's never going to happen

Sign me up to do Strictly Argentina with Anton... 😉

The Charleston has to stay I love it.

There's already too much disco going on (salsa's I'm looking at you!)

I don't want contemporary, jazz, disco, hip hop or any such nonsense. That would be the end of strictly for me.

I wouldn't mind lindyhop, tap or some of the mentioned Latin ones like merengue or mambo.

id love to see some bollywood somewhere in there

Jitterbug and similar dances would be a pointless addition in my opinion.

Lambada - far too sexual for our reserved celebs. The standard of Latin on Strictly is bad enough as it is.

Jazz and contemporary would also be pointless and boring additions.

Disco looks sh!te.

I would love to see the contestants try to tackle hip-hop just for laughs.

Ballet - The Ballroom dances already deal with grace etc

Team dances - Yet another way to fix the leaderboard...no thanks. Very unfair.

Drop either the samba or salsa. I can't tell the difference no matter how many times explained to me (so don't bother trying, please!) and the judges don't seem to know the difference either.

Keep the AT for the semi-final, would be great to see all the dancers dancing the same dance.

No lindy hop, or contemporary. There are too many dances already. If they ever add contemporary I will never watch it live again as would have to be able to FF through them, awful, awful awful!!!!!

Aquadance - I just watched a video on YouTube (Cinthia Fernández Aquadance Showmatch 2015) but I don't know how to link on here. Basically it was just weird. It's more like gymnastics and I spent the entire time thinking they were going to break something. Not something I hope to see on SCD any time soon if ever.

The reason I dislike the Charleston that it is technically much easier than the others.
