Not half had problems installing this as I had to empty all the phone as it wouldn't download or install.

I hate the white keyboard.

Just say no. To Marshmellow.

To your phone it is no friend. Will drive you round the bend.

Install Marshmallow? Prepare to moan. About how slow it makes your phone.

Glad it amused someone. I thought it was a bit rubbish, personally, I nearly edited it out.

Seriously, as with any update you need to seriously consider if your hardware is up to it. My laptop keeps trying get me to install windows 10 but I'm having none of it!!

Windows 10 generally works faster on older machines than Windows 7 or 8 provided your drivers are fully Windows 10 compatible. You should try it before making unsubstantiated statements. You can always make a full system image backup and revert if you get issues.

In any case, this in an Android 6 thread, so if you have comments about Windows 10, why not post on the Windows 10 thread.

To be fair I was making a general point about not updating older machines to the latest software. I've been using IT since the days of Windows 3.1 and Mosaic so I've some experience of this.

I wouldn't ever advise people to stick with older software. Modern software offers security enhancements and gives people more features.

As pointed out above, there's very little reason to stick with Windows 7 or 8 from a performance point of view.

In terms of Android. It seems that Android 6.0 is much faster than Android 5.x, so again, I wouldn't recommend anyone sticking with the older version.

Well if its anything like the lolipop update they can keep the bloody thing as lolipop ruined my Moto G (IMO)
If I could return it to kitKat I would but have read that this is not possible.

Modern software is just as bug ridden, often rushed out and patched with updates and security flaws. Windows 7 is now quite a nice stable OS, why would anyone want to install a new bug ridden OS? Give it three years or so and most of the flaws will be sorted.

Why would anyone want to miss out on three years of new features and enhancements when they can have them NOW?

If anyone listens to this advice, they need their head seen too.

I got 6.0.1 yesterday which made the Nexus 5 just as smooth as it's ever been. Not thought about upgrading as the phone works super smooth with all the latest updates. Never had any upgrade issues with the Nexus 5 at all.

See that's what worries me as this is 6 and not 6.01 so probably full of bugs

Well went for it and wow it is actually amazing. It works. It's snappy and the battery drain is hardly at all. Think about 30% less use for me.

Yes, the battery usage reduction under Marshmallow is pretty phenomenal. It was never dreadful on the Nexus 6 under Lollipop but it was only mediocre, now it's actually pretty decent - there are simply no days I get home from work without at least half of the battery still remaining. I don't know which aspect does the trick - Doze, or something else - but it really does make a difference.

I normally update my phone when it comes out after a couple of weeks to make sure that there are no initial problems.

I may think twice about updating a phone over 3 years old though as it could cause issues.

I'm still on Windows 7 as I have no problems with it and did not really like 8 (not sure what 10 is like, but I was offered a free upgrade and turned it down).
