It's no secret and has been widely reported. I'm sorry if an alternative view irks you, but hey life's full of alternative views so you have to accept that.

The show no longer existing remark is a metaphorical one but then I'm sure you already knew that.

I'm glad you still like the show as it needs all the support it can get.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_...ise_(TV_series)

Suggest you look at the viewing figures.

Wiki says 5 million with Ben Miller- now 8 million with Kris Marshall.

Edit- I don't understand why (I've had two goes at it) but although I try to link to the correct Wiki page it defaults to the one you will get if you click on the link. Just click on the bit that says 'Do you mean tv series' and scroll down to the bit about viewing figures.

Most incredibly stupid was the decision to put the new woman in shorts.
I beg to differ.

As far as I'm concerned and a great many others (allegedly) Ben Miller was Death in Paradise. The show no longer exists since he left.
Source to back this up?

Ben Miller's character, quickly began to annoy me. It's OK an experienced British Detective Inspector, turning up in a suit to work on a hot Caribbean island, but to continue to wear one in that heat, defies logic, even for a comedy drama.

The character was written to be a bit eccentric, but Humphrey is far more believable, although the whole thing is just a bit of entertaining fluff.

Anyway, I prefer Florence to Camille.

I'm with Doghouse - the reason I didn't watch it from the start was that I disliked Camille's superciliousness. I prefer it now.

I had recently read a book where someone impersonated the murder victim so he would be seen waving after his death to prove he was still alive, so I did guess that bit, but I didn't guess who the murderer was.

I liked Duane finding a boy to mentor, but I'm not interested in JP's romance, and are all those lines about finding love meant to imply that Humphrey and Florence are going to end up together? I just can't see it, and there didn't seem to be any reaction shots etc to back it up, but I can't see the point of those lines if that isn't the plan?
JP as a police officer is not a well-developed character -- he may as well be an empty suit for Dwayne and Humphrey's comically bad advice. For that reason it is hard to care very much about his love life.

As for the chef's murder, the joint-enterprise cover-up was enjoyable but the time-shift aspect was the same plot device as last week.

Bit stupid to have them all shocked at finding the body at the start of the chef episode only to find at the end they all knew what had happened.

Their shock was to show the delivery guy how "shocked" they were.

Must say it was gross stupidity of the brother to try and burn a part metal necklace when he could have just chucked it into the sea that was only a few yards behind him.
Given their proximity to the ocean very few of the murders on this show use it to hide the evidence.

Did anyone else notice a change of 'feel' to this episode. Not the story line, but the acting/directing.

Kris Marshal, in particular, during the first section of the programme seemed to be playing the part quite differently to normal.

And for the first time, we saw long, close, face on shots of DJJ. I was very aware of this because I'd always wanted a chance to look at his face closely, front on, to see if I could see any similarity to Cat. (Now I've got to dig out a RD to make the comparison.)

I loved this show with Ben Miller and was pleasantly surprised to still enjoy it when Kris Marshall took over. However just lately I have been struggling to keep awake while watching it. I do record it so can rewind, however that never used to happen and I don't think it is old age! I am actually getting bored with it and I think it needs a break.

I am not sure if it is me but Florence seems to be just delivering her lines as if she is bored with it too. There was a certain chemistry between the actors but this seems to have gone and the usual gathering of the suspects and the drink in the bar later has become a bit stale.

It's as if they've given up trying to do anything other than provide a bit of nice warm-looking scenery. The plots are silly, the acting is generally sloppy and the ludicrous character the 'Kris' bloke plays is just unbelievable. I still watch it but more out of fascination to see how much worse it can get. I don't think they've yet gone for a Midsomer Murders-style cult leader (have they ticked the elderly rock band reunion murder yet?) but it's only a matter of time. Maybe the stupid Disney lizard will get it soon - pinned to the woodwork with an ice pick.

BIB yes that was last series I think.

As for warm scenery, did anyone notice in last weeks epsiode when Dwayne and JP were talking in the police station, through the window you could see trees sideways in the wind and the rain lashing down

Yes, I noticed that too

Don't they film in Guadeloupe in the winter? I suspect that some of the sunnier scenes and views are stock footage as it mostly seems cloudy when they're drinking at Catherine's bar

Well, Eddie Nestor the murdering concierge from the previous week said he filmed it just after he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for charity last July. He also said each episode takes 11 days to film as he was told to be available for the entire shoot (he only worked 2 days in the end).

I find that I have to watch each episode twice as my attention drifts - or maybe it's Florence's legs which keep distracting me from the plot.

It made more sense second time round.

A freeze frame of the credits at the end suggest Jackson (the boy) is probably Danny John-Jules son (same surname, anyway).

I was actually freeze framing to see who played Rosie.

God that was obvious from 2 minutes in that they were having an affair and killed the father, I also wish they'd stop always suggesting how bad a person the victim is, its like the show almost attempts to justify murder if the person is "difficult", "hot-headed", "wouldn't understand". Like how about not live under the thumb of your father and work in a different industry rather than kill him so you can shack up with his wife.

Also two weeks in a row we have the "bad father" excuse from the killer, combined with the affair with the step-mother the whole episode was more cliche than ever.

Yes I totally guessed who did it in the first few minutes, not why he did it because I didn't guess the wife was involved. Anyway it is nice on the eyes and makes me homesick

Agree totally with this. The briefcase thing got tiresome after a while too.

Another bloody obvious culprit. It looks like UK TV murder mystery shows need a fresh set of ideas... Desperately.

It is starting to get irritating, with MM and DIP both getting obvious and a little bit tedious.

Being in the tropics Guadeloupe doesn't have a Winter! But they do film it during the 'rainy' season hence the sometimes cloudy scenes and I've no doubt you are right about the stock footage.

Even during the rainy season the temp will rarely drop below 80F and it will still be extremely humid.

Last in the series next week, going to miss this so much Any word on another series?
