A Nice welcome return, good story line, for once I couldn't even guess who did the deed.

Wish I was there, rather than this cold miserable place

Once again a mystery is created by making the police think the crime happened at a time different to that at which it actually did. Well over half of past episodes used this device.

So now it's what you look for from the start. And since there was no mention of anyone else visiting the cabin before the dive, it was obvious Nicky had to be involved.

And then we had the coincidence that the only two women the victim had been involved with in the last seven or so years had themselves become lovers.

It's a good job the scenery's worth looking at, because as murder mysteries they're not very good. In my opinion.

Think it was mentioned she was 17 then so not not actually illegal in that sense. What happened to the teacher wasn't of any consequence to the story.
"In 2001, the law was changed to make it illegal for teachers to engage in sexual activity with pupils at their school aged under 18." according to this BBC page:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7653326.stm

There was a case in the news fairly recently where the pupil was over 16 and the teacher was prosecuted.

Yes, it did all seem pretty obvious having seen so many similar plots before.

Yes I didn't guess who done it this week. Perfect at this time of year. Very much Caribbean BBC style though.

Did anyone spot that Nicky was played by Neve McKintosh who also plays the Silurian Madam Vastra in Dr Who.

My husband and I enjoyed it.

He's still crowing that he guessed whodunnit and the motive before I did. I think that's a first for us.

Although not to that Island, lucky enough to be going to the Caribbean in a few months for the first time, so me and Mr AK were salivating at the scenery

Enjoyed it, despite getting a wee bit distracted by Emma Rigby's lips (why on earth has she done that, she's a gorgeous girl, there was no need ) and the impression that the new side kick was actually Jessica Ennis-Hill

if you think too hard about any murder mystery of this type (e.g. Banacek, Jonathan Creek etc) they all use the same basic plots - either it didn't happen when or where or by/to who we think it did.

The usual rules applied.

The last two people to see him alive (so they could corroborate each other) did it. Also the first to find the body.

That is standard DIP fare. The only question was 'Why them?'

Yes. Oddly enough, I prefer her as a lizard.

I quite liked it despite the lack of any character at all in 2 of the coppers, very little character in the other 2, a very obvious pair of killers (I knew it had to be the wife who shot the victim, and the other woman who covered for her), a terrible script and some dreadful acting.

It's one of those things I keep watching in the hope of improvement, but I don't know how long that will last!

Did they really say that Laura was expelled from school for having an affair with a teacher? Surely the teacher should have been charged with abusing her, and would not be allowed to teach any more, but it would be outrageous for the victim to be expelled? I know it was supposed to be a few years ago, but not all that many?
There could be a lack of sufficient evidence for sacking but a pupil could easily be asked to leave without any fuss.

From the preview it looks as if the Commissioner might have a big role in next week's episode

I must admit the timing of the murder and hence the perpetrators was fairly obvious. That particular device is getting a bit stale across all tv murder mystery/drama programmes. Almost to the extent I look at DIP and others and assume that was the method of murder.

Maybe the writers should try going a bit old school, police stabbing around in the dark until they stumble on the culprit. Would actually look refreshing on DIP.

And now there is this one, do you actually think forum members are too stupid to find threads on the various forums. I mean if your looking for the latest on the X factor you might be struggling around here, but please do not think we cannot find things ourselves.

Weirdly I have the exact same feeling towards Dr Who!

I didn't think it was a particularly great episode but given the scenery there are definitely worse ways of spending an hour

strange as it may seem I'm not sure that the actual murders are all that important in this type of programme, its often obvious who the culprits are but the reason / method isn't always so obvious and that's the fun part. well for me anyway.

this is the first episode with Kris Marshall I've seen , tbh - all I kept thinking was : what's up with his face ? it does look a bit odd , like he's had a facelift and is wearing a wig , but he's not that old is he .
