Every episode, towards the end he starts doing stupid things and uttering jibberish, in last nights episode he was wading in the sea, up to his waist muttering and talking , this happens every episode before he solves the mystery.. do we need it ..? Or do you think it plays an important part of the episodes ..

strange as it may seem I'm not sure that the actual murders are all that important in this type of programme, its often obvious who the culprits are but the reason / method isn't always so obvious and that's the fun part. well for me anyway.
The only crime/murder type TV programmes that I watch is this one and previously New Tricks. Both because they are entertaining and of course the 'scenery' in Death in Paradise is very easy on the eye!

If I wanted devious crimes and cunning detection etc I would read or watch Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie (neither of which i do).

Although this is the 2nd series for the "new" cast I still find them sadly lacking. Apart from Wayne and the Commissioner, the acting is really wooden, and Humphrey is beyond silly. I realise they wanted to make him completely different from his predecessor, but he goes too far. Still watchable, but only just.

Quite agree. We here haven't even gotten the ones without Camille, so I'm sure it will get even worse.

Incredibly, this stupid show has been renewed.

I enjoy it for what it is. A light hearted detective programme set on a beautiful Caribbean island. Just right for a miserable January/February night. It doesn't tax the brain. If you want something with more content, then don't both watching it. Theres plenty of other things on at the moment.

Strange is anyone's acting could be described as 'wooden' then I would have thought it was the Commissioner (and perhaps Harry).

Wasnt quite sure which thread to use but this one pre-dates the other one so my post goes here....

I thought the toy soldier was a bit dodgy as "the reason" that it all came together for Humphrey, surely it could have fallen from any of the sample bags at any time that day? Why did it have to have fallen from the wifes bag at the particular time of the murder?

Anyway apart from that I quite enjoyed it, relaxed viewing for a cold winter night.

Good to see the lizard is alive and well

I thought this was the weakest episode ever of DiP. Only the interplay between Dwayne and JP about their phobias was vaguely entertaining (but could have been done better).

What happened so having someone at least vaguely recognisably famous and capable of acting as one of the group of suspects?

You must know by now what this show is like so why are you still watching it?

If you go on the advice thread you will get lots of help with other things to do with your time that don't involve watching a TV programme you obviously don't like.

Enjoyed it, despite getting a wee bit distracted by Emma Rigby's lips (why on earth has she done that, she's a gorgeous girl, there was no need ) and the impression that the new side kick was actually Jessica Ennis-Hill
BIB - Me too - don't know why people do that to themselves. I thought she was one of the better actors when she was in Hollyoaks, but she was terrible in this and her accent seemed to be all over the place.

I enjoy it, it is a easy going mid week show to watch. It does not show alot of blood or gore. It is meant to be light hearted, with goofy but brainy Humphrey, laid back ladies man Dwayne who I can see setting Humphrey up on a date. New kid on the block JP still learning the ropes from his colleges, seasoned and the action woman of the series Florence. The Commissioner serious but a fair boss. Not forgetting Harry the sounding board for Humphrey and in the past Richard for many thing work and personal, who listerns without giving Judgement..

Sorry, chap, this is America.

We don't take advice from anonymous message board posters who actually have a Queen.

Nice try, though.

All the previous series are already available on DVD series 5 will follow after the last episode has been broadcast. Far better to record them live and in HD 1920x1080i the DVDs are an outdated and inferior playback source.

Which I suspect does not reflect the BBC price tag on the set

So while junk like DIP and The Affair and Homeland get renewed, and whichever other equally vomitous shows are popular in the UK go on and on (like Doc Martin), which dimbulb network canceled Green Wing? The same idiots who canceled Getting On?

I enjoyed it - I thought Lloyd Owen's characters had done it and was feeling rather smug with myself, until I was put right (although I still haven't quite figured out how Humphrey got to the conclusion he did!)

Robert Thorogood who created the show is also writing the Death in Paradise novels (although funnily enough DI Poole isn't dead and Camille is still around!) I got the first one and will read it when the series finishes.

DiP is not Silent Witness or The Bridge - it's a silly crime romp that makes you smile and gives you a bit of a boost during those cold January nights.

don't watch it then... its not rocket science.

I really don't understand why people persist in watching a programme they don't like and you did watch it how else are you in a position to comment on it? If you didn't watch it why are you commenting on it?
