So while junk like DIP and The Affair and Homeland get renewed, and whichever other equally vomitous shows are popular in the UK go on and on (like Doc Martin), which dimbulb network canceled Green Wing? The same idiots who canceled Getting On?

Watching this does not require any brain cells at all - and for me, that is the whole point! I watch enough neurone-tickling stuff and now and again, it is quite nice, in the depths of a miserable British winter to sit and bask in ersatz Carib sunshine and smile at the antics of a silly detective.
BTW I am not missing Camille - I much prefer Florence. She at least has the semblance of a real policewoman rather than just be eye candy. |

don't watch it then... its not rocket science.
I really don't understand why people persist in watching a programme they don't like and you did watch it how else are you in a position to comment on it? If you didn't watch it why are you commenting on it? The plots are poor, too. Surely they were better than this originally? And the humour seems to have taken a nose dive. I don't find Humphrey and the situations he finds himself in at all funny. It's just too predictable. He's just too idiotic. But you are right - some weird feeling of loyalty kept me watching last series. This series I hoped that the programme would take a turn for the better. It hasn't, judging by the first episode, so I'll say goodbye to it. I feel a bit sad, though, as I think it could have been so much better, while still being fun and frolicsome. Still, many people still seem to like it, so I'm pleased for them.

Plus we've lost the "I love Camille" stuff which was beginning to get really grating.

I agree with you. I'm always saying this to other people. I think in the case of DiP I really liked it at first, and I liked the characters, but one by one the decent characters have gone and now there's only Dwayne who seems remotely interesting, and he's become a caricature.

Viewing figures suggest its what people want. I'm not so sure the earlier series were that much better TBH but then I barely remember anything about any of them once the show is over because its just a bit of chewing gums for the eyes. Anywhoooo... I won't watch a show that doesn't entertain me and this one does, in a fluffy ridiculous, suspension of disbelief kinda way

They've done tonight's method of killing before, haven't they? Though it may not have been an envelope seal the previous time, it was something pretty similar? I would have thought that the governor's office would use self-adhesive envelopes rather than ones that you have to lick, or if not, they would have one of those sponges that you dip in water to wet the seal.
When Humphrey was doing his mad babbling to demonstrate that he is solving the crime, he said, "They weren't at the party!" He must have meant Ellery, who was in the kitchen at the time he was talking about, but surely the only reason he said "they" instead of "he" was to keep the audience in suspense! If he hadn't figured out that it was Ellery at that point, then he wouldn't have known that the killer wasn't at the party. JP seemed to have completely got over his fear of water as there was no mention of it when he and Duane went to look at the rock. |

Thought the sign posted the motive just a little bit too easily this week.
I will concede I went for the fainting or allergic reaction then poisoned her. |

IIRC the previously similar one was the one where it was the stamp that was "treated"?

Your last posts have both been feeble attempts to troll the forum. Any reason for this?

Poster must have some petty dislike for DiP to keep saying the same thing week after week. Maybe he has no choice of TV programs he watches as he is being forced to watch this by his overbearing mother.
Please help us free these people from their TV despair, your donation can make a difference to real lives. |

Duane used to know more or less everyone on the island, didn't he? And he has been a policeman for ages, surely? So it seemed strange that he didn't seem to know Ellery's story already. The island police would have had to investigate Ellery's daughter's death, wouldn't they?

I don't have any axe to grind with the show in general (I've only ever been an irregular viewer) but I feel tonight's plot was very dull.

I saw the same plot (photographer leaving his camera to take photos automatically and give him an alibi) on something else recently, so I guessed right away too.

Oh dear is DIP,losing its appeal, far too easy AGAIN. Rather obvious actually. Getting a bit of a yawn if I'm honest.

I thought last nights was quite good overall, didn't spot the thing with the cameraman until towards the end. I did think the thing with the stocking in her hand was a silly addition, fairly implausible for her to grab that out of his pocket and bunch it up tight in her hand as she was getting strangled, but I guess they needed that as a red herring to keep other options open.

I must admit that I didn't get it, although I considered the photographer, but dismissed the idea of him leaving the camera unattended because the fact that there would be a succession of images with exactly the same framing would be so blindingly obvious that he would have been nailed the moment they looked at the pictures.
I never imagined that the photographer would assume they would be so useless as not to notice and hence would never have tried such a trick. Or that they would, in fact, be so useless, as to not notice for some considerable time. BTW: Did anyone else notice the Kris Marshall sounded as if he had a bad throat for a few of his lines? |
