Wouldn't the CCTV recordings normally have a time-stamp on them? I thought it was obvious the porter had tampered with the clock from the beginning.

I hope Keith Allen's character will recur in the future, as he is supposed to live on the island and didn't get killed off.

Sometimes in a murder plot series, it wouldbe nice even for one episode if we could just switch of and enjoy the hour or so without annoying your family or partner with I know who dun it.. god i am so bloodly clever... enjoy the hour ..and relax.
Maybe just one episode of any series it would be to much for one !

I guessed it was the hotel bloke when he said about the time difference to the aunt. As it was only a few minutes difference I thought it must be important.

Oh do be honest you had a one in three chance of being right, unless Auntie Mary was up to no good and sorry DIP is not that sort of show.

Me too but I couldn't work out why. I didn't think it would be Keith Allen because he usually plays a villain so it would have been too obvious.

She wanted to tell him in person that she was developing dementia.

Like others, I like to watch because it's a great programme for a dark, cold winter's night, and I'm not bothered if I work it out or not!

I love this series, but it definitely isn't one to be taken too seriously.

Taking a dvd out of a CCT recorder at 10pm & not putting 1 back until 10 minutes later, would not mean that the recorder would register 10pm - it would register the real time - even if the machine was shut down in between.

My only other problem with last nights' episode was some of the acting : the wife of the crook (Keith Allen?) had about half a dozen words to utter the whole time, and a 5 yr old could have said them with more conviction. And I hope someone puts JP back in his box by next week!

We thoroughly enjoyed last evening's episode of DiP. As has been mentioned before, DiP is to be taken light - heartedly. It is a good comedic crime romp, to brighten up a dull January/February evening.... well done to the BBC....want to have more of this...

LOL. Everyone enjoys shows like this in their own way. If people like it in a way you disapprove of, that doesn't actually affect you in any way, does it?

I don't think anyone's suggesting you should stop reading your own posts.

It's hilarious when Humphrey tells the murderers at the end he knows they did it.. They act like they actually didn't know.

Amazed at:

1) the excellent wifi access in the beach house

2) the easy access to UK databases including police and passports etc.

3) seeing Wendy Craig again. Very welcome

4) how a tiny island can have an efficient bank branch just round the corner

5) the wonderful views and laid-back lifestyle

6) the shortness of the police sergeant's shorts. Highly commended

Conclusion. I want to live there. How do I get there?
and the only Murderers are clean cut visitors from Britain

Perhaps Mr Strut wishes to go there because he is, or wishes to become, a murderer! (unless he has a beard)

Incidentally, last nights murderer was played by Eddie Nestor, whose day job is as Radio London's Drivetime presenter.

Ah yes I thought it was him!

Me too, the way he jumped in and corrected her stood out too much. It would have been much harder to spot if they'd just given different times in their interviews. And changing the DVD over at 2am made it jump out even more. Although I was thinking he'd possibly tampered with the recordings, like putting yesterday's recording over the top of the actual recording to wipe over the murder time, rather than just messed with the clock to hide him not being there.

I don't read the threads till I've seen the programme, and only managed to watch this last night. I caught the reference to the time, but for a while I had the wife under suspicion.

Don't think she was employed for her acting ability

It's fantastic light entertainment for winter nights but plot-wise it's as formulaic as they come. It makes Murder She Wrote seem like King Lear
