LED and OLED pronounciations
Something I don't understand.
When it comes to LCD and LED TV's, you pronounce them as 'L.C.D.' and 'L.E.D.', but when it comes to an OLED TV, people say 'Oh-LEAD' (as in pencil lead) TV. Shouldn't it be called an O.L.E.D. TV? I'm sure I've heard people call it that when they first were introduced, so why is it now pronounced an Oh-LEAD TV. It's like something else. You have the Olympics and the Paralympics. Why isn't it the ParaOlympics? Can anyone explain this? Thanks. |

People choose the easiet way to say it I guess, usually by removing a syllable or two. After a while it becomes accepted as the norm. I don't know if it's anything other than that.
AMOLED sounds better in my mind than A.M.O.L.E.D ParaOlympics sounds like an Irish sports bar
