Ah yes, you're right - got them muddled because they seem so similar.

In that case, it started that early because they still had 14 couples in the competition, and the start time gradually became later as there were fewer couples, thus a shorter programme.

They haven't even attempted to avoid it, X Factor time slot has always been 8:00pm, and they only moved it slightly because of RWC this year. Why should X Factor avoid the clash when they've had the same stable slot since 2012??? Strictly just changes whenever.”

Strictly is following exactly the same show pattern it has for years too - as you've been informed, and it's also quite easy to find that out by checking for yourself. So why is it the BBC's responsibility to avoid clashing with another programme?

Of course they know what they're doing - exactly what their remit is - providing public service entertainment for as broad an audience as possible. And that is best achieved by moving their highest rated programme later in the evening when audience are larger if they have a gap in the schedule.

Seriously though, whining about scheduling is normally not the province of the SCD forum. You may get more sympathy on the ratings thread or broadcasting. On this forum there's probably not going to be much sympathy for your views

I like X-Factor too, but honestly, it's much better when you record it and can edit out the embarrassing faff (of which there are plenty) and ads, so I don't know what the big deal is.

If people prefer to watch it live, they'll watch it live and iplayer Strictly, or they can vice-versa it. People get so hung up on ratings still despite the way people watch TV being so very different.

It's not Strictly's fault if XF isn't doing enough to ensure people care enough to watch the dullest finale in XF history...if they wanted a more interesting final they probably should have kept Sean Miley Moore in beyond the second week.

X Factors so bad the BBC probably haven't even noticed.

Start recording X Factor from the start, watch Strictly until the end, start watching the recording of X Factor, fast forwarding through all the adverts and you'll have caught up way before the end of the show. Drama over. 🙄

That's exactly what I'll be doing. Not rocket science, is it!
I fast forward through all the silly introductions too, and start watching from where they start singing.
I'm expecting to have caught up before the voting even opens....

PS I see you've raised the same point over on the X Factor forum, and they're equally unconcerned about the overlap in the schedules - in fact they've said pretty much the same as has been said here...

By the time it takes the Xfactor judges to faff about getting to their seats, then the ads .. you don't even have to record you've missed nothing.

Hmmm... User joins in December and seems to be trying to stir up outrage about the mean old BBC deliberately hurting that lovely commercial TV station

Do we have a lazy journalist in the house looking for quotes?

Yet, i don't know about you, but I've been watching the show for years now and X Factor has always started at 8:00pm. Strictly started at 6:20pm for movie week so i struggle to see their reason for moving it to 6:50pm, resulting in this 30 minute clash.

I know theirs catch up etc, but when it's a December night with the family, you don't really want to keep skipping adverts and bits, do you? (Adverts don't bother me) And i don't want my kids staying up too late. It might of been TXF's fault last year but Strictly has been so ruthless this year, Despite, a widening gap. Why?”

Do you vote on Strictly??. I don't need to know who you support?. Just want to know whether the clash and no X'Factor next weekend would affect Strictly.

That Tellymix article is hilarious - totally ignoring the fact that, unlike previous weeks, Strictly has to cater for TWO live votes.

The OP is a troll. He has started exactly the same thread in the X Factor forum and interestingly has had a similar response to this one.

Common sense post of the day Alli-F. Personally I wouldn't watch X-Factor even if all the other channels shut down and there was nothing else on, but if I were an X-Factor watcher then this is exactly what I'd do.

If's possible to catch up on a half-hour of episode of Emmerdale if you start watching 6-7 mins in by the end so you could certainly catch up with X-Factor like this.

Does anyone watch a show from the start now? I must be an advertisers nightmare. Haven't willingly seen an ad break since about 1999!

They don't have to. Do you have a PVR? Do you have access to the iPlayer and / or ITV Hub? If you don't, you must be one of the few. Strictly and The X Factor are both premium primetime programmes made by competing organisations, flagships for the BBC and ITV respectfully. Neither will adjust its scheduling to accommodate the other, nor should they. I am also afraid that they won't adjust the scheduling so that your kids can watch both and still go to bed at their usual hour. The answer is in your own hands. There is no reason why your kids could not watch one on Saturday night and the other on Sunday.

They are 9-10m who watch X Factor, and many watch the UK version across the globe on Youtube and on channels like AXS TV in America. You all need to grow up. I guarantee a lot of Strictly viewers also watch X Factor. You may all disagree as you don't want to offend the BBC. Oh and this post wasn't intended to be about the ratings or compare the 2, it was about the way Strictly is trying to harm the show, despite it having a huge advantage over the show. So it perfectly suits this forum.”

Psssst, Jake. On Demand or Sky+ or Tivo or whatever and Robert is the brother of one of your parents.

Watch the one you recorded Sunday morning over breakfast and you'll even be able to skip through all the baggage. e.g. adverts on ITV or Tess on BBC

Haven't watched XF in years, it's the same programme every year with only those with a 'story' getting through.
You only have to look at how the vast majority of winners sink without trace to realise what a waste of time it is
