I think you're (now?) being deliberately provocative.

So you post a topic for discussion and when you get a factual response you dismiss it as hate because it doesn't fit in with what you wanted to hear.

Quite frankly The X Factor is dying, no matter what time Strictly was in at I highly doubt it would make much difference to their ratings. I had been a XF fan from the beginning, watched it every year, but their blatant favoritism and fixing has completely ruined the show. This year I have not watched it at all except for the odd little clip if someone else is watching in a different room and I was shocked at how bad it was this year. It's had it's day and needs to just bow out now to be honest. They have only themselves to blame for it's failings.

Oh dear, the much superior strictly is clashing with x factor, so what

Any channel can broadcast what they want when they want within broadcasting laws. The BBC is not breaking any laws with its scheduling of strictly.

Furthermore this happens around 12 times a year on a Saturday.

ITV deliberately changed the schedule to clash the x factor with sports personality, despite the BBC asking them not to. ITV on a regular basis every 3 weeks or so move/extend their soaps to clash with eastenders.

ITV are not blameless here and I don't blame the BBC for aggressive scheduling because ITV do the same.

Next Simon will be asking for countyfile and antiques roadshow to be moved because they have more viewers. I know why don't the BBC just not broadcast anything on Saturday or Sunday that way the dire x factor might struggle up the ratings to 7 million.

I did too.
In 2011 I realised that I just didn't enjoy it any more so 2012 was my first ever Strictly.
Its miles better.

I didn't even realise it was the final of X-Factor. Years ago everyone would have been talking about it at work, this year I haven't heard it mentioned. I might take a look tonight just out of curiosity, but I lost any real interest a long time ago.

Don't see why there's any fuss about a clash. The X Factor is just filler if there's nothing better to do. Watch SCD and record XF or watch on an hour later +1.

Clash of times? So what? You'd think we were back in the 1970s

ITV +1, BBC iPlayer, Freeview, Skyboxes, DVD recording, even old fashioned videos if you still live in the 1980s.

Agree.

If you TiVo XF you can catch up and zap the bloated bits like the long introductions and Padding, and be caught back up very quickly. XF is on for over four hours for three contestants, you can cut a heck of a lot out if required.

If you look at SCD ratings, the earlier it is the lower viewers it gets, so it tells you many people who view it are out early evening. Weekend ratings have been like that for a long time, pre 7 pm is a midfield, and often whatever show is out there doesn't rate well there. SCD has 11 million viewers, so to push it earlier means those at work, or travelling home , will miss the start. Should one show that gets six million viewers bully out a family show that gets eleven million and chop out a million or two who want to see it but are out, maybe working in a shop till 5 pm.

Yes XF put its schedule out early, but why? It was a PR stunt, they knew XF is on its last legs and knew SCD could finish it off.

Note last week and for some weeks there was no clash but XF was still low, no bump up. I fact last week in the sandwich of SCD/XF then I am a celebrity, the other shows rated well either side of XF but XF didn't go up, so people were in but didn't want to watch it, actually pro actively avoiding it.

XF schedule that was produced in advance actually changed some weeks, to 8.15 to avoid SCD why do they not try to avoid it tomorrow, at four hours fir three contestants its bloated and they have had to bring in many acts making it more like top of the pops.

The advance schedule also covered 7 pm Sunday's which has always been SCD results time, They knew it, they aggressively scheduled XF to clash and it lost.

So in summary there are circa 4> 5 million SCD viewers who do not watch XF, so why should they suffer an early start to avoid an ailing show , as ITV bullying boys dictate it.”

Please do not make rational, logical points especially over a number of paragraphs. I can't be bothered to read more than five words (in general, those words being "I KNOW RIGHT - IT'S AWFUL!"), particularly if they don't support my point of view.

I am very concerned that the BBC has scheduled tomorrow's results show at a time that clashes with the hour I had put aside to set up camp in my neighbour's garden and stalk him. My plans for doing this have been well-known for weeks and I've bought a pop-up tent and a vacuum flask and some binoculars and everything. Please don't inform me that the results show is always on at the same time every week* as I'll just stick my fingers in my ears and go "Lalala can't hear you..."

*N.B. this poster wishes to make it clear that she does not have a clue whether this is true or not, nor does she have any real interest in the time of the results show as such.
