USB OTG video not playing
Hi helpful folks.
I have some mp4 videos which don't seem to work on my Nexus 7 (2013). I have installed OTG disk explorer and it shows up the files on the USB stick but will not play any of the mp4 vids. They do work on other devices with OTG capabilities including a Galaxy Tab 10.5. I have tried various browsers like MX, dice and VLC but still no joy. I know I can convert the Vids but want to try and avoid that if I can. Thanks in advance. Posted via Android Central Ap |

Not sure why OTG is mentioned as you can copy the files to the device to 2nd check that you imply need a compatible app for what might be quirky files.
VLC is another player you can try. |

Depends on the compression codec. The tablets they don't work with may not be capable of playing h264 or MKV files because those codec's aren't installed on your device. Find out what codec the video files are and then install that codec on the device.
OTG meaning USB "On-The-Go"? If you can access the files then the OTG part doesn't really mean anything as OTG is just about connectivity. |

Thanks for the replits - the reason I mentioned OTG is because the video is not working direct from the usb input. When transferring the video to the device memory it plays fine.
On a different tablet - it will play regardless of location. |

Solved
Just to update - I appear to have solved this by installing Nexus Media Importer.
The videos on the USB devices are now playing successfully. Looks like the other usb file explorers I tried were not up to scratch. Thanks all Woody |
