I haven't found her irritating this year. Am quite surprised at the end of each show that she hasn't come up on my radar. She's settled into it now, not trying to "be Brucie" like she was last year. She's not perfect but ok. And she does work well will Claudia, they have a great on-screen relationship.

I agree , he has been given chances and has proved to be very limited, he is very self obsessed.
I would prefer Tess to him.

Zoe would be a disaaaaster darling, she far too manic. Tess is doing a far better job than some give her credit for. She keeps the show on time, is cheerful and more tan competent. It helps that she is good to look at. The two women are perfect foils for each other. There are many things I would change to improve strictly, changing the presenters is not one of them.

Anton is 'Marmite', a few people think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread (including himself) and make a lot of noise about it but I am sure the majority either are indifferent or can't stand him (like myself). He must be one of the few professionals who so many people dislike.

She is effectively a commentator and by the nature of the job they tend to often say the same things regularly because there are only so many ways you can describe the same thing. Just listen to sports commentators, they spend hours saying the same things over and over again.

Strictly is watched by millions. DS ScD boards are a tiny teeny microcosm of extreme opinions that do not in any way, shape or form represent the larger populace.

You're fooling yourself if you think your opinions or dislike of Tess matters one jot to the BBC.”

Agreed, the BBC has always done testing of audience reactions to performers and programmes. I doubt whether they pay much attention to a quite vocal minority on sites like this.

SCD gets 11 million viewers, XF gets 6 million, Tess and Claudia show the others how it's done.”

ITV copy the BBC so much that it would be funny if Ex Factor changed to two female presenters in an attempt to emulate Strictly! Especially after all the moaning from the misogynists on here.

Get the distinct impression that Tess is brill at keeping a live show on track and on time.

Much more difficult than it looks.

The show finishes earlier than when Brucie did it - can tell by the Spoiler Thread

She doesn't get flustered if something goes wrong - think Bruno and 'bulls .....' She had that right under control without a wobble

Doesn't seem to suffer from nerves - when Claudia and Tess were let down from the ceiling on week last year, Claudia said she wouldn't have been able to do it without Tess's support.

I really like Rylan he has a lovely personality and is a very good presenter, I thought Cowell would have snapped him up for this series he's perfect for xfactor since that was where his fame all began. I don't see Tess going anywhere for a long time.

Good point, personally I can't see ITV to be so forward thinking, they still think there in the Benny Hill era.

However at least they solution would get Caroline and Olly of of their dressing room and stop Caroline looking disheveled. Maybe if them two spent more time on the script and less on each other then the presentation would improve.

Yes Tess is very professional, but I think she learnt a lot from Bruce.

It's become clear that SOME find Tess annoying, but MANY thought the previous presenter was extremely annoying and yet he hung on for 10 years!

Tess keeps the show running on time (no annoying unfunny "jokes" that have to be explained), no thoughts that she knows better than the judges, no fluffing of lines, efficient links between the dancers, judges and the Clauditorium, keeps the judges in order and deals with unsuitable comments swiftly. In other words doing what the host of such a show should do and doing it well.

Oh, I hope not. Didn't think much of Tess in the beginning but now she is without Brucie she has 'grown' into the part and proved to be a good manager. On the other hand I started off by liking Anton but now don't like the thought we would have to endure his smirk and inane comments every week. If he has to have a role somewhere let it be with Zoe on ITT.

tess is great, good at what she does, keeps the show running smoothly, its an important job. Claudia couldn't be everyone's darling if tess wasn't holding the show together.

I wasn't thinking of them being 'forward thinking', just the usual 'if something is working for BBC then we must copy it and preferably buy their people'.

Good point about Claudia, she is able to 'do her thing' or whatever because Tess is there holding the programme together. They make a very good partnership.

She presents the show in a particularly assured way that isn't easy for a live entertainment show (look at how Olly and Caroline struggle on XF) It's not easy to multi-task at all and she's very competent, OK she isn't Bruce in his heyday but is far better at keeping the show running to time and not making the show about her- That's a skill strictly needs imo

I think Tess is easily doing well enough not to be changed. I like the mix of her and Claudia. I like Tess's reliability and predictability and I think she keeps it all moving. She's not good at the humour, but that's not what I'm watching it for. The Strictly audience doesn't like change, and I'd guess we must be coming up to one of the male judges changing next year or the year after, which will be tricky, so they'd do well, imo, to keep the presenters as they are.

Agree.

I note the OP hasn't been back, and Also started and posted some provocative comments on a thread re XF Vs SCD clash, I take it this thread intent , might have just been to provoke people.

Maybe Darren Bennet will be a replacement judge if that does happen? So on ITT that he's a judge on the Lebanese SCD.

I somehow doubt it. Tess bashing threads seem to be part of the fabric of this place, mainly fueled by the same few misogynists week after week.

As others have said, she keeps the show to time, doesn't attempt excruciating long winded 'jokes' and generally does a good job of providing the positive encouragement to contestants that her role requires. Plus her relatively straightforward delivery allows Claudia to shine at the wacky stuff.

Zoe would be too manic for me, and all of the male substitutes suggested leave me cold.

Fortunately TPTB will take absolutely zero notice of a few complainers on here. So long as the ratings are good, the team will stay as it is.
