The forum has been very slow this week . Seems many people are no longer interested by these stages unless they are invested in any one celeb . I have to admit, as I mentioned earlier in the series, that I my interest tapers off toward the end of the series. Because everyone dancing rather well and against reduced numbers of competitors doesn't appeal to me . I prefer the early stages and watching the characters come out . Similar to when I used to watch XF , I used to enjoy the stupid auditions and the early stages and then wasn't in the least bothered if I missed the latter stages .
Looks like plenty of other posters feel the same too and I'm not the only one losing interest . What with so many threads on past dancers etc on the board .
I suppose at this stage it's the most interesting or exciting time for the dance experts (not being sarcastic there btw) and purists on here, and us lesser mortals just miss all the genuine struggling of the no hopers and also rans .
Yes I'll watch , but if something distracts me or makes me miss the show I won't be devastated .
Anyone else feeling like this ?

Nope. Not me. Not OH... and not several other SCD fans I know of here in France.

Maybe you just need a year off.

No , I am not a purist and know very little about dance but I love this stage . I love the last few who are always great to watch and I love the polished dances and no one to roll my eyes at !!

It's definetly quieter in here.

Is this the first year that there isnt firm forum favourite or hate figure? I remember Sophie Ellis Bextor being the fave two years ago and any criticism of her was jumped on by her supporters, whilst poor Susanna Reid was torn to shreds. Last year it was Mark Wright copping the flack. It's more harmonious in here this year.

Jay and Anita/Kellie/Georgia if you're in the mood would have something to say about that..

No, I like to watch it for the dancing, although I have missed some and watched the next day.

However I think it can go quiet here as quite frankly sometimes the posts and responses can get childish and silly and the endless attacks on certain celebs seems off putting, especially when the same posters then attack anyone else who has an opinion on their favourite.

So possibly people are not liking the sour tone and attacks on the forum, just watching the show without it on here.

Yes and No.

The show itself I much prefer in the later stages, when almost all the dances are good.

But this forum - yes. By week 13, other than specific activities and issues with the remaining contestants there isn't a whole lot new to discuss. But that doesn't stop people resurrecting the same old topics, especially ones bashing other people involved in the show. For example just this week there have been two new Tess bashing threads, and even an Abbey Clancy thread!

And then of course there are the regular bizarre threads from one of our more 'eccentric' posters...

But in spite of all this, I'm still here.

Who out of those is who though? Jay has taken so flack, but so have all of them at various times. There was a fair bit of vitriol directed at Anita last week but it's died down now.

If you're even having to ask whether Jay is the forum favourite or not then I have to wonder how much you've been on the forum this year...

BiB - you are joking, right? No firm forum favourite this year ?????

(And until a couple of weeks ago we were quite well provided for in the hate figure department as well, as I recall....)

It's so obvious too .
Seems silly to deny it when the main page has threads like this ,
Strictly 2016: The end of Tess ?
Strictly clash with XF Final.
Will Kevin get a dud partner next year?
Simon Set On Poaching BB Rylan & Emma?
Why The Negativity Over Abbey Clancey
Arise Sir Strictly Anton D.B.
Strictly Come Dancing Belfast?

There seems much less enthusiasm for the actual events unfolding at the moment. .

I wouldn't use some of those threads as a yardstick, the first two were started by a person who loves XF and posts in the XF forum a lot. In fact the End of Tess thread seems very similar to the end of Olly and Caroline thread over there and the SCD Vs XF thread us duplicated in the XF forum, but still the answers are nearly all Pro SCD.

Take a closer look, majority of the Thread Starters are from only two FMs.

You'll always going to get silly threads on all Forums too.

I agree with the forum favourite, but there is plenty of 'anti Jay stuff' about too.

Kellie's dancing and her personality were given a lot of bashing over the series, although her work ethic and reliability have won a few round, and it's not so bad at the moment. I've understood how she could be irritating to some, although she's not bothered me, and she's a terrific grafter who does a reasonable amount of technique.

Anita was very favoured I think, for a long time, amongst those who've been fans forever (yells of undermarked) from the beginning, and those who've appreciated her personality and hoped her technique would improve.

Anita hasn't tanken a massive bashing. A lot of people are sick of Gleb's 'gorgeous' persona and his distraction choreo, and the 'Anita has no dance background' shtick which is all wearing a bit thin. But even THAT, hasn't meant that she's been hugely bashed. And her fans are certainly sensitive and fierce

And she's certainly had less than Kellie and Jay. I'm over Anita though, and hope it's her that goes out tonight. Although there's a CHANCE, that Gleb will do something about her footwork now and we might get some content in her dances.

We'll have to see.

As for it being quiet, well it's flamin' Christmas. I don't know about anyone else but I'm both horribly busy and really knackered. Can't wait to finish work at the end of next week.

The fact that you managed to fit some anti-Anita stuff into a post downplaying the amount of anti-Anita stuff there's been kind of proves a point...

It is a shame, really!

I do think Jay has taken some criticism, but the aggressive reaction in response usually helps to counter anything said about him.

Agreed on Anita...some FMs will dedicate threads to her, write pages and pages of dull digs, misinterpretations in interviews and just generally behave unpleasantly towards her. I can't wait to see her dances tonight. Wishing her luck

Indeed. I really hope she goes through tonight. If only to wind her detractors up.

No it doesn't. Everyone who reads the live threads knows I'm now negative about Anita, but because I am, and some others are, all, with reason, still DOESN'T mean she's getting a massive bashing.

Your post, however, confirms what I said about some of her fans, have to say.

Why wouldn't you just be pleased? Don't you think she deserves to go through?

You mention the 'aggressive' response to criticism of Jay, but Anita's fans are just as aggressive if anyone criticises her. Everyone just thinks that criticism of their own favourite is so much worse than anyone else receives and other fans jump on every criticism of their favourite, but the fact is all the fans are behaving the same way. The only ones who don't seem to have a group of fans rabidly defending them are Kellie and Katie.
