I don't think the lift Kellie & Kevin exited from in their AS got in the way at all...

I'll get my coat...

These days shouldn't the showdance just be re-named the 'lift-athon'??

But I don't know I'm thinking that with the semi-finalists we have the showdances might not be full of lifts.

Anita had 6 last week in her AT (previously 3 allowed) and I watched most of her salsa like this and don't know, but it seemed to consist of a helluva lot of lifts. Kellie was lifted on and off the table in her VW (no lifts) and had a section with 4 "assisted leaps" (otherwise called "fan lifts" by Darcey") plus a few more.

Now, I know liberties are taken with theme weeks, but even so. It's not particularly fair on other couples who do stick with the number of lifts they're supposed to have.

Added to which the lifts are getting increasingly gymnastic and gynaecological !

And the judges are barely batting an eye .
(Remember when Craig went on and on about Rachel Steven's toe coming briefly off the ground in a VW spin?)

I'd like to not only get back to strictly limited lifts, but also introduce a limit on height of lifts - like Ice Dancing did back in the days of Torvill and Dean.

My preference would be no lifts where woman's waist is above man's shoulder.

What do you think?”

It's not a big issue, the show gets 11 million viewers, if it ant broke don't fix it, no changes required, look at X Factor when they change it, it died.

Dancing With The Stars used to be shown on RTE(Irish Channel, I get through Virgin), and I was really surprised at the lifts, in VW and others ballroom dances. Len never said a word about them. I used to think, why is he not saying something, when he complains on Strictly?

Allow too many lifts and it ends up a boring 'liftathon' with all dances looking the same.

New, varied choreography is fine as long as it fits in with the rules - but allow too much variation and the dances would all end up being showdances looking the same again.

I'm not sure about height of a lift but maybe a rule could be introduced on how long they can remain in the lift, or a rule to state that their feet should be in contact with the floor for x percentage of the dance, allowing for 2 small lifts and one big lift.

Well sorry but Anton gave Katie far too many lifts to save to much dancing, which the Charleston is famous for.
