Manual setting of recordings?
I was trying to set my YouView box to record the bbc red button channel (London International Horse Show if you're interested).
I know the dates and times of the programs, but the guide hasn't got the program details. Is there any way of setting the recording without the EPG? |

No.

Let's hope it appears in a future software update, but it is a valid point for concern.

Nope. Never will. Youview's ethos is to have a box that is easy to use and setting manual timers is seen as complicated. That the UI is actually unnecessarily complicated in other ways (how many button presses just to see the list of recordings?
) in its attempt to satisfy this ethos is a farcical irony.

Yes. We have been telling them this for years now.

I've actually used the option (somewhere in the settings menus) to remove the logos, they don't seem to work well with my ancient 32" SD Philips TV. Quote:
One, if using the keyboard accessibility feature - F4.

Augh!!!
No manual programming is really annoying. My Radio Times gives me times for each Olympic sport, but the EPG has one entry "Olympics" 1:45 - 6:00. Please let me set the recording times myself! |

A more detailed explanation, please?
I use a mini wireless keyboard instead of a remote. There has been a few comments on DS and other forums that it is not possible to go straight to the list of recordings with just 1 key press. Using a keyboard it is possible to go to the list of recordings with 1 key press - the F4 key. Using a keyboard instead of the supplied remote has the disadvantage that you have to get used to which keys do what but there are some very useful advantages. E.g. Entering a search term is a lot quicker and easier. If two Youviews are in the same room the keyboards don't clash. You don't need line of sight to operate, just to be able to turn on the youview manually, (as the keyboard does not work when in full standby). Currently the keyboard/function layout on the youview site is slightly out of date as they do no mention that you can use the 'i' key to get the information details. This was only introduced earlier this year during for all non-Ultra units. Ultra units will be updated in the next few weeks to also include this feature. |

My youview appears to match what is being shown on 600-608 on Radio Times apart from 'highlights' which appears to be a pseudonym for nothing being broadcast .Which day and time and red button number/channel is your example for? If it is now been and gone, have you another future example?
