Well, if you devise a schedule that features the correct programmes, including soaps, then yes, they count as the final score. If however you don't schedule any correct programme then they won't because on Boxing Day and Holiday Tuesday, soaps are scheduled anyway.

So the only time I won't count the soaps is if your schedule does not contain any correct programme other than soaps, simply because everyone will obviously schedule soaps on the day they are meant to be scheduled. Even on Christmas Eve it is highly likely EastEnders will be on!

But, if you schedule the soaps and one correct programme, then of course that one correct programme will count.

I should point out, that "News and Weather" won't count either - unless it is in the official schedule at exactly the same time as your schedule predicted.

For example: Your Schedule:

BOXING DAY ITV

6.00pm Programme A
6.30 ITV News
7.00 Emmerdale
7.30 Coronation Street
8.00 Programme B
8.30 Coronation Street
9.00 Programme C
10.00 Programme D

Official schedule

6.00pm Programme E
6.30pm ITV News
7.00 Emmerdale
7.30 Coronation Street
8.00 Programme C
8.30 Coronation Street
9.00 Programme B
10.00 Programme F

This will give you 3 points. But if you scheduled the News at 6.00pm and not 6.30pm then you will have scored 2 points.

But if your schedule matches the Official schedule (even if some of the programmes are in the wrong order), then you will have scored 8 points based on the schedule above.

You get points for the soaps IF your schedule line up is similar to the official. If not, you get points for the most correct programmes in your schedule not including soaps.

Looks like another year of all the Radio Times regions being printed at a single print-works, rather than using extra printing locations to ensure they all hit the shops on the same day.

When did they switch to a single printing location for all the Xmas issues?

I would say it is more likely on Thursday as we didn't get the Radio highlights today.

Hasn't Tuesday already been mentioned somewhere? It's normally on this equivalent Tuesday anyway based on the last few years.

Should the soap rule to the listings, be the same for Match of the Day, on Boxing Day, as it is guaranteed to be on

No, because, like the News, it depends on where you schedule it. I can't exclude every programme. The only reason I'm excluding soaps is because I have just one prize and everyone will obviously put the soaps in their schedules.

Also, MOTD, is more or less the last show to be scheduled so it's what comes before it that matters!

If you are devising a schedule, it would be an idea to include films, you never know the correct guess of a film on the right day might be enough to win the prize!

The Radio Times (complete with Doctor Who cover) also has a Christmas Preview tomorrow so I would think the BBC Media Centre will indeed be publishing the BBC TV Highlights tomorrow.

Other familiar highlights on BBC1 over Christmas include a festive version of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, a compilation of the best bits from the first series of Tracy Ullman’s comedy show and one-off returns for Alan Davies’ Jonathan Creek and sitcom Outnumbered, which was last on screens two years ago.

“We’ve pulled out all the stops this Christmas to bring the nation together with a sparkling line-up of family favourites, brand new treats and festive specials on BBC television,” said the BBC’s director of content, Charlotte Moore. “We are showcasing an unrivalled range of top quality comedy, drama, entertainment, factual and religious programmes across our channels that promise to deliver something for everyone.”

While the schedule promises the eagerly anticipated return of many favourites, there are few new shows. Among the 35 BBC1 programme highlights announced to fit in with the publication schedules of TV listings magazines, only eight have not appeared on UK TV screens in some form before.

I remember well the excitement that ensued when the BBC1 announcer would boom out "Big Films for Christmas on BBC1" amidst a superb festive trail!

Now the movies have more of a "Oh, if we must show something, we must!" attitude. I would have thought, that IF Frozen was on BBC1, the newspapers would have made a song and dance about it. Could it air on ITV?

BBC seem to have virtually given up on movies these days, BBC1 especially show very few through the year apart from Christmas, and then they're mostly CG animated kids movies. They don't cater for grown up movie lovers anymore.
