Another thing from the highlights is no mention of a new Not Going Out Special - will have to wait for the series

Good to hear BBC Are doing a concert for New Year, I didn't think it would happen this year, especially with BBC1 having to show Match of the Day.

I guess Graham Nortons final show of the year will be on 30 December, in its normal slot, or 10.25pm

Because doesn't the late news, revert to 20 minutes of main news and 5 minutes of regional news over the festive period.

I know the evening news on BBC and ITV tends to revert to 15 minutes international news and 15 of regional

Looking back to 30 December last year the News was on at 11pm and lasted 20 mins

Hi everyone as you can tell I am new to the forums but have been following this thread for the last few months. I know the competition is over but I think my ideas for the traditional cover would be Santa getting into the sliegh with a Robin flying past. As for the program cover I think the stars of outnumbered sat eating dinner with the doctor and Mrs Brown would have worked. When can we start doing the schedule competition and does anyone think Football focus and final score might return to BBC one on Boxing day?

Hi welcome to the thread - the schedule comp opens at 5pm tonight and ends on Thursday at 5pm

With regards FF and FS i think Focus may be on but Final SCore will probably be on red button and on BBC Two

Just read the Radio Times Extra booklet that gets sent out to subscribers and on page two Ben Preston talks about the RT Festival in London in April and says tickets go on sale December 5 - watch out for details online and in our Christmas double issue. Expect to hear a heavy thump on your doorstep FROM 9 DECEMBER!!!

Thanks and was thinking similar although to me it makes more sense to keep a shortened final score on BBC one instead of putting on between two period films on BBC Two which has happened a few times.

I know in most cases it takes 3 years for films to be shown on TV but is it usually shorter for the BBC's own films. As I think if that is the case then Spooks the greater good and Bill might be shown at some point this Christmas if not then definitely next Christmas

Was it mentioned last year. I seem to remember it was just buried late on Christmas Eve with no promotion. If there is a special this year I hope it better than last year's.

I cant remember the last time they shown Final Score on BBC1 on a Boxing Day, got a feeling we are looking at pre Jeff Stelling Soccer Saturday days.

I remember in those days, you wouldn't have a clue on how your team was doing until 4.40 as there wasn't any other way of finding out.

And if i remember rightly the Saturday which fell between Christmas and New Year, BBC1 would put on Festive Programming, instead of Grandstand,

So the BBC probably doesn't have Frozen? If they did, they would surely be making a big song and dance about it.

Yep Boxing Day football coverage was traditionally limited (as was the case with most other bank holidays), something that was noticeable because with matches being played in the afternoon it was like a Saturday and it therefore felt a bit strange to not at least get half-time updates. Picking a random year of 1987 in the schedules, even though it was a Saturday the only sport programme on BBC1 on December 26th was Final Score at 4.50pm with The Great Escape shown instead of Grandstand during the afternoon. ITV showed an extended Saint & Greavsie at lunchtime and then had a results service at 4.45pm.

Apart from last year when Boxing Day fell on a Saturday, previous years, before that, BBC Never Shown Focus on a Boxing Day.

I would be more inclined to think BBC1 will give us Focus on Christmas Eve, with a fairly normal Style Saturday Morning, before they go go into full Chrimbo Mode, after the L:unchtime news

I think they might still have the rights to it. If another channel had if I think they would have promited it by now. Is it possible that it been held back though with frozen 2 happening soon. I think it took Toy Story 4 years to get a premier on Television so it possible the same has happened here. So monster's university might get the 3:10 Christmas day slot instead

But doesn't that apply to other channels too, wouldn't Channel 4 or whoever also make a big song and dance about it? Maybe no channel has it this Christmas.

I can't see focus been on Christmas Eve it makes more sense to have it on boxing day building up to the boxing day matches. I think it certain new years eve will be the normal Saturday service with final score from about 4:00

Well looking at old schedules, the last time Christmas Eve fell on a Saturday in 2011, Football Focus wasn't scheduled at all on BBC One or BBC Two. Instead BBC One shown a Christmas special of an old Keeping Up Appearances

That's a good point, I guess they're potentially holding it back until next year then.

Yes I can't see there being a Focus on Christmas Eve, a day which has become basically a blank day for football in England even when it falls on a Saturday like this year (I know there's a couple of matches in Scotland at lunchtime that day). The likelihood therefore is that Focus won't be shown that day, it wasn't when Christmas Eve last fell on a Saturday five years ago.

I think Christmas and new years eve will be interesting to see will casualty keep it slot on both days and will Match of the day and Graham Norton both appear on new years eve it is possible that of Course that Graham Norton could present the new years concert linking in to his chat show

Would anyone have expected football focus to be on last year though. If anything it fills a difficult slot and won't cost much as both the studio and pundits will be there anyway for final score. It could also be a good lead in to the best of sport relief to be shown afterwards that's two hours filled for cheap then when not many people will be watching.
