I hope the BBC have sense and repeat the Goodnight Sweetheart special. A late night repeat on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day would be perfect!!

THE SCHEDULING GAME AMENDMENTS

In view of this unexpected surprise of early Christmas schedules (albeit yet to be confirmed), it is not worth asking you to provide schedules for the Christmas period. So, instead, I will extend the deadline until 11pm on Thursday 24th, and ask you instead to devise a schedule for one of the following days:

NEW YEAR'S EVE BBC1
NEW YEAR'S EVE ITV
NEW YEAR'S DAY BBC1
NEW YEAR'S DAY ITV
NEW YEAR'S DAY C4
HOLIDAY MONDAY 2nd JAN BBC1
HOLIDAY MONDAY 2nd JAN ITV

Sorry to make these changes, but I don't believe we've ever had provisional schedules released as early as this year.

The same rules apply as before, just the days to devise your schedule has altered!

Any schedule already received will no longer be valid, so everyone can start afresh and come up with a schedule for any one of the options above. Please PM me your entry as usual.

No. You get a free trial for 7 days, which means you can view the next 7 days. My subscription expires on 3rd December so I wasn't able to view beyond that until I renewed my subscription yesterday.

Don't give me that rubbish. Last year ITV schedule Cameraman To The Queen and Countrywise opposite the film on BBC1. There they flopped with under 2m, while BBC1 was pushing 7m.

ITV need to be competetive with BBC1 otherwise the latter just wins by default.

I'd rather watch the lion king than frozen to be honest, that will be a nice treat unless they change it

Its much better than last years alternative to BBC1 - see above post.

And 101 Dalmations on ITV Boxing Day. ITV have actually spent some money on some quality Disney titles.

Welcome to the thread H. Nice to have you with us.

I am actually pleasantly surprised at ITV's efforts this year. Reminds me of the good old days when both main channels would look enticing!

Thanks

This most definately. I find ITV's Christmas usually just so poorly put together with the same over-repeated films. At least the above, they have actually put in some effort. Even if its doesn't do really well, its creates a better look for ITV. You never know, they might get a decent raing with The Lion KIng compared with last year piss poor effort.

I agree on your sentiments regarding Ethel and Ernest. I love these types of animation, and I think it would be a waste on the 23rd.

It's quite often been said that the Great Escape was always on at Christmas (my dad used to say it as well!),but it is actually a myth, between 1964 and 2009 it was on twice over the festive period!

Two of the most common films shown at Christmas are The Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!

BBC ONE:

Frozen (Christmas Day)
How to train your dragon 2 (Boxing Day)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (30th Dec)
Monsters University (New Years Day)

Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy
Muppets Most Wanted

17:15 ITV News

18:30 Blankety Blank
19:30 Coronation Street
20:30 Maigret”

So after digesting this, I think :

BBC One needs to find 10 minutes for a news bulletin around 6pm.
Frozen needs an extra 10 minutes.
Eastenders is too late.

I think they have to ditch something of at least 1hr for something that is 30 minutes (probably an animation). They would probably have to ditch Bake Off. Can't see Strictly or Midwife making way for it.

I don't feel like Eastenders is worthy of the prime slot, especially when there is no Downton to try and sink but that's another discussion.

For ITV, everything feels too early and there is probably a programme missing from the schedule (after Lion King ?). Maigret shouldn't really need to start pre 9pm.
