Here's a trivia teaser (probably not that hard to RT devotees, but even so):

In what year did the Easter issue of the Radio Times have a TV Times advertising slogan on its cover - and what were the precise circumstances?

Digiguide has updated for the first time with the Easter weekend programmes and what an absolute disgrace if those schedules remain the same lazy scheduling at its best - cant upset the morning and afternoon audiences by putting a film in the bank holiday spot

At least ITV are trying to be different with some daytime films (Railway Children, Willy Wonka)

At least BBC TWO is showing a film King of Kings on Easter Sunday

With the lack of special programming i dont think we deserve a special Easter cover

Last Easter my Mother reminded me of something I had completely forgotten: when I was a child growing up in the late 1950s and into the 1960s, Easter was, in her words, a “mini Christmas.” We used to have a full Christmas dinner on Easter Sunday, we sent Easter cards in the same way we send Christmas cards, and we wished people “Happy Easter”!

Or, if the programming is poor, perhaps we do deserve a special Easter cover as compensation!

BBC1 seem to be the worst offenders this Easter. Easter used to be when they'd show movie premieres that they couldn't fit in at Christmas. Easter used to be a big event for broadcasters. Now it's a festival almost given no importance at all. Sad isn't it?

I still experienced that well into the 70s and 80s. Remember Easter bonnet parades, family all around like it was Christmas, only other time we had a turkey, the Easter egg hunt and then blockbuster films on the telly on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Nowadays it's just a long weekend but for me I still try and keep it special by taking the kids away for a few days, Easter egg hunt somewhere different and just spend quality family time away from work..

There is a 90 minute block at 8.30pm on Easter Monday on BBC One that needs filling - a Pirates of the Caribbean film? repeat of Sherlock or could it be a surprise (doubt it)

So with the so far dismal schedule how fortunate you will have a quiz to while away the weekend! starts Thursday 24th

The A Word is a series and starts on Tuesday 22 March

How about a repeat of The Ark from last year?

If anyone would like to hear some suitable music for the Easter period have a listen to Evaluation Worship. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n22DM3swHqI Grace Like a Wave is an excellent song. Stumbled on this group by chance after this song was played on BBC Radio 2 Paul Gambaccini's programme a week last Saturday. Thanks Paul.

I'll leave it out there for a day or so. I actually thought it was a fairly famous cover, but maybe not!

The Editor of RT is on his soap box in the new issue criticsing the Government again about the future of the BBC

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-...n-6000-readers

Does this mean that RT will now make public their readers surveys? Doubt it

Does he assume RT readers are left wing Guardian readers? I'm not suggesting RT readers don't also buy The Guardian, but it would be interesting to see how many actually do.

I don't get all the panic with regards to charter renewal. Is he just panicking because his beloved BBC Four may ultimately close? I believe once charter renewal has been done and dusted, most of the population wont actually notice too much regarding what the BBC show on its channels. Anyway, que sera sera.

Anyway, the survey Preston is complaining about is not an official consultation. The government has no obligation to consider it. Since it published the results of its own official consultation on 1st March, and confirmed the overwhelming majority actually thought the BBC was offering a good service and did not need too much tampering, I don't actually see the relevance of the RT poll to be included anyhow. I don't believe the DS poll on the BBC was considered either. After all, why would it be?

If anybody's waiting with bated breath for the answer to my trivia teaser, here it is...

Spoiler
Number 17 if it doesn't link directly to it. 1980 then, with Bugs the Easter Bunny plugging Chuck Jones on Omnibus

Hi

I saw on sale today at a local newsagent a copy of this weeks RT for £2.00 !

Is this a special offer for particular regions?

Inside there was one of those Get 12 issues for a £1 leaflets. Then pay £1.50 as week

Plus.. has anyone noticed the error on page 115 of the new issue?.

Spoiler
The cover shows the slogan "I never knew there was so much in it", which was a familiar one used by the TV Times around the time this RT issue came out.

Any other subscribers had a letter saying their subscription is going up?

Mine will go up next month from £17 per 3 months to £29.90 per 3 months similar to a £1 per issue price rise

4 x 29.90 = £119.60

52 x £2.30 = £119.60

They say that a 51 week subscription costs £131 (but there are 52 issues if you count the double as two weeks especially as it costs two weeks price) = £2.52 Postage inc

The letter says that my level of discount was no longer viable for their business due to increase newsprint and postage costs but it looks from the figures above there really is no incentive to subscribe

Lost one subscriber I wonder how many more will go
