On the topic of Amazon, the other week, on the regional programme BBC Does, Inside out that's it.

A journalist from the Points West team, went undercover, and found most of the drivers are freelance, half the vehicles aren't roadworthy, They had 3 minutes between each drop, and some drivers had to wee and poo, in the back of the vans with the parcels

I'll be thinking 6 or 7 times before I press the button to buy from Amazon now!
Thankfully - the majority of stuff I order tends to delivered by Royal Mail.... worryingly - the majority of stuff delivered by Royal Mail has no tracking and doesn't require a signature!

Got a 2TB Hard Disk a few months ago, no tracking, no signature - delivered by Royal Mail. A tad worrying. But then as Dave Gorman proved - you can even send cash through Royal Mail in an envelope with a window showing the cash - and it still arrives (eventually) although it might be in a Royal Mail "sorry about your item" bag.

There are two ways to send things securely via Royal Mail:

1) Signed For. This isn't traceable during the delivery period but a signature is required and you can see when it has been signed for. Ensure you get "proof of posting".

2) Special Delivery: This is 100% guaranteed, traceable and is delivered before 1pm the next working day. It also guarantees the goods you are posting up to £250.

Obviously you pay extra, but Royal Mail has the most diverse and flexible range of postal charges compared to others - from just 55p.

I see that BBC Three has a snowman logo on their Twitter page.

I know
My point was that the vast majority of stuff I get from Amazon on the 3-5 day delivery thing - especially from Amazon Marketplace - is just posted as a standard parcel with no proof it was delivered or ability to track the package.

Also over the weekend many of you will get your hands on the Double issue and fly off to other forums and threads or into hibernation before coming back to the new thread sometime next year.

So I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed in some way to this thread this year - 150 pages over 3,700 posts and over 300,000 views. It shows that people do like talking about Christmas TV as we all have a view about it . When the first thread was set up nine years ago we were called geeks and to get a life etc but with those figures above I dont think we can be called anything but enthusiasts any more

it has been nice to get to know more of you during the year and its also nice to see the younger generation taking part - hope that continues

I feel as we have a community here where anyone is welcome . We have shared in each others success and shared in each others sadness - also nice to know that if your feeling down or need advice a quick PM to someone can help

A big thank you to Clares_dad and Wizzywick for their competitions and quizzes, helps to get us in the mood

For some of us Christmas is a hard time of year due to loneliness or it brings back memories of those no longer with us - but as my sister in law said last year after losing my brother - we will celebrate the way he always did - so the things he did on Christmas Day were still done

I hope the double issue doesnt disappoint and I look forward to doing this all again next year on the new thread

I for one can't wait!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all”

Thank you for that wonderful post marke09. I love this thread and I'm going to post my usual Christmas greeting message here on December the 25th.

I wouldn't expect the BBC Christmas Idents to launch until Sunday. A tweet that is from a friend of one of the actresses in the ident has said:

"I think Saturday would have been better for the idents than Sunday, but Sunday is 3 weeks before Christmas Day".

Got mine - Sir David Attenborough on the cover. It says Christmas RT will be in the shops tomorrow although I've found in the past it depends where in the country you are, I think they do London first.

Just seen in the Radio Times that the basic rate of Rt (before offers) is £131 per annum if you divide by 52 (as they always double the price of the double meaning you pay for 52 weeks but 51 issues) it comes to £2.52 a week!
