IMO nothing beats the idents from a few years back of the big snowball rolling and the ones like it. Are BBC 2 showing the Christmas village No.2 ident?

BBc Two using old ident - the bauble ident looks like being the news ident

I had a quick look at a guide yesterday I have to say am a bit disappointed with the way the schedule is. All the promising stuff and it just all seems flat. Am surprised Channel 4 have we going on a bear hunt on at 7:30 when most of the target audience is already in bed or likely getting ready to go. Same of Bake off makes no sense why it is on Christmas day.

BBC Nonsense more like. I thought the whole theme was awful.

Very mixed up ident message this year, just too many messages.
For the moments we share, oneness.
Just confusing.

As for the idents, they are ok.
The christmas jumper one could have been done a bit better without all the shouting boom.
As for the bald head, fun I suppose.
Christmas pudding one late last night was not bad. Been a long time since we had a christmas pudding in an ident, 1977 if I remember..
Apparently we still have more versions to come.

Hi

Can anyone send me a link to the 2017 Thread. I'm a bit confused about what we are officially using

Surprised you couldn't get a TV Choice though, anyway back to Christmas TV.

Looks like Channel 5 is the place to be for classic movies. Over the Christmas week they have, to name a few:

Dr Zhivago
The Vikings
Jason & The Argonauts
Scrooge(1951)
The Wizard Of Oz
West Side Story
& The African Queen. ”

Yes on Christmas Day Channel 5 are showing back to back classic musicals from 7.35am which is great to see

Once upon a time BBC Two used to be the home for the old classics like this. They used to frequently show the old gems with the likes of Bette Davies, Humphrey Bogart and James Stewart, but Channel 5 is the best place to catch all these nowadays.

ITV3 are also showing the brilliant 'Casablanca' over Christmas as well

BBC is really poor for movies, which wasn't unexpected, unless you love computer animated kids movies that is. The schedule is awash with those again.

Yes, there was once a time these animated movies would only appear on BBC One but these days they are spread across both BBC One and Two.

BBC Two sadly only have a small selection of old movies to pick from. This has been the case for quite a few years now. Having said this they have the old RKO catalogue so it's a little disappointing they don't show any of these very early in the morning over the Christmas fortnight or late at night.

Maybe I am OCD on this but I always wait until the Tuesday before unwrapping the edition for the next week no matter how many days early it is delivered. Throws out my weekly routine otherwise.

So it appears now Christmas special of not going out this year. I think the fact the comedy highlights is a Pete Kay clip show and two sitcoms that are like Marmite ( Miss Brown's Boys Citizen Kahn) and a sketch show of someone who has never been that funny shows that the BBC don't have any good all round comedy's anymore with only Outnumbered saving them. If they were going to use Peter Kay they should have just made a car share Christmas special instead of the clip show. One of the worst Christmases for comedy.

Totally agree with you on this*. I got my David Attenborough RT cover edition last week, for convenience, but won't be reading it and circling new entries for my planner until tomorrow.

*although it is somewhat amusing to see some people on here constantly whining that they haven't received their subscription copy yet, even though it doesn't even start for days!!

Well I received my 10-16 December copy this morning, but I still haven't had my 3-9 December issue so I think I can whine about that as it's now 5th December!

Has the new years eve and day listings been confirmed yet?

Annoying split of Christmas and New Year in the RT with the New Year schedules not available until Dec 23. There should have been one more normal edition with the bumper two week special starting on Dec 24.
