This is my final post in this thread. I would like to wish those who like me enjoy posting here a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. In particular I would like to send festive greetings to those who are part of Digital Spy's forum support team for putting up with these Radio Times Christmas countdown threads each year.
I hope that you enjoy this festive tune from Paddy Roberts
I hope that the 2017 thread will as good as this thread has been.

So what does everyone thing on the telly so far?

Haven't really watched much. Peter Kay was great but the Car Share bits fell flat (this is the first I've seen of it, was that the new bit?).

Looking forward to Doctor Who and Mrs BB tonight.

Why is Top of the Pops 10 minutes earlier this year on BBC1
and why have the shoved the News between Top of the Pops and The Queen?

Really annoyed. Me, my family had paused Frozen, Had it paused for about half and hour becuase we had things to do, we put it on but then suddenly it went onto live tv on another channel that had been recorded. Really cross because it was the one film i was really looking forward to watching with my family at xmas.

Anyway maybe it will be on next xmas. Other then that rant i think the xmas tv this year is really good but the radio times is getting too expensive, surely the prices can't keep going u[ or in 5 years time it will be more then £5.00!!!

Sorry - think you may be out of luck - it's not available live on iplayer for legal reasons so assume it won't be available later either

Ok, i will check anyway. I know Penguins of Madagascar is on IPlayer but i know that is made by Dreamworks not Disney. Disney are more strict on what they let the terrestrial TV show.

Anyway Merry Christmas to everyone on this thread its aways a great read in the run up to Xmas

I think BBC1 was underwhelming because they show way too much animation as a lead in. Yesterday in the morning until 11.30am was just animation. Then it was a repeat of a Christmas Day show. Then following Countryfile and a repeat of limited appeal daytime drama, they had animation solidly from 2.40pm until 7pm with only the News in between.

BBC1 have had some excellent offerings, but their scheduling and limited appeal lead ins is what I think have made their ratings suffer. Who would rather have watched something like Oz: The Great and Powerful yesterday rather than another animated movie? Harry Potter might be over repeated, but they have wide appeal and are not animations. I watched far less BBC1 this year simply because of all the animated movies.

Perhaps The Muppets Most Wanted might have been a better choice of premiere for Boxing Day than How to Train Your Dragon 2. Hopefully, the BBC will consider their film choices in future, as a lead in is as important as the programme that follows it.
