No, that is what they say about Andy (the English anyway)
![]() Joking aside, I think Andy's mother is absolutely delightful, from personality to dancing experience. And, the one thing you can say about Andy, is that he's wholly inoffensive and should theoretically be a great inspiration and role model for youngsters. Whether he's Scottish or British, it doesn't really matter. |

Complete Details of the Quiz's First Prize:
Today is the day that you find out all details as to what you'll be playing for in the Quiz. I hope you like the things that you can win. Here's what I've revealed so far:
1) A Poster of a Classic 1950's Christmas RT Cover 2) A Tea Towel featuring the 1977 Christmas Cover design http://shop.radiotimes.com/homeware-...ea-towels.html 3) A Keyring with "Quiz Winner 2016" engraved on it PLUS a poster wall calendar for 2017 featuring three RT covers And, the main part of the prize is: 4) A boxed set of 101 Postcards all featuring a different RT cover from 90 years of Radio Times. See it here: http://shop.radiotimes.com/games-gif...dio-times.html So, that is the contents of the first prize. This year, there are decent second and third prizes too. These will be revealed on Sunday July 3rd. Also revealed on Sunday 3rd July will be details of the new prize tier: The 70+ Prize Draw All entrants who scored 70 points or more (after the three winners have been decided) will be put into a draw and a name selected from a hat (or jar, or tankard or anything else that can be used as a container), and this person will win a small prize too. It's my way of saying thanks for giving up time to enter. Finally, I want to say that all items have been specially purchased in order to present as a prize. Therefore all items are brand new and unused. |

I always find the second half of the year goes by very much more quickly than the first. It's like slogging up a hill through the first half then freewheeling down in the second! We'll soon have the Christmas in July events, then September with Halloween and Christmas goods appearing in the shops, Halloween itself, Bonfire Night, the 'Legendary Christmas Double Issue' ... then it's Christmas!

Agreed. The first half of the year, other than Easter, is just a slow build up. At the end of June there are summer holidays to look forward too, by the end of August the nights are noticeably getting darker, then there is Halloween and Bonfire night, and by that time the Christmas adverts are on the telly, the music channels have started the Christmas songs and Christmas is almost here!!!
Then it's the Eurovision Song Contest. I'm always amazed at how quickly it seems to come around, and even now, this year's has been and gone. My third counter is the May Bank Holiday at the end of the month because it is marking the end of public holidays until August. Then it's the end of the school year. I always think "The kids only went back a couple of weeks ago!" and yet, before you know it, they're breaking up for the long summer holiday. Then it's the August Bank Holiday. Whether it's at the beginning of the month like it is in Scotland, or at the end, it symbolises the start of the new academic year and the arrival of Autumn. My next main counter is "The Last Night of the Proms" because this really is like a last hurrah to all that came before and the beginning of darker nights and all the anticipation of the oncoming end of year events. Following that, it's just a matter of five minutes between September ending and Halloween, but my next counter point is The Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. This is such a poignant and memorable part of the year that even if it's different by way of acts and performances, it remains the same. But of course, before the festival of remembrance and to take us nearly into December, is claires_dad's guess the cover competition. Then it's December before we know it and dare I say it, the anti-climactic reveal of the RT cover and it's predictable listings of the predictable schedules and Christmas is here, with the next years Countdown Thread already in full bloom! |

I love the build up too it, also after three mild winters in a row , hopefully It will be a colder one this year, maybe some snow If we're lucky (wishful thinking, I know) but even If it feels more seasonal, It makes all the difference imo In making it feel like Christmas. It wasn't even mild last year it was warm! It didn't feel right.

Like the new layout of your website Claires_dad
Am I right in thinking, (looking at the recording dates) that Series 8 of Not Going Out will consist of 5 episodes, and the recordings in November will be two Christmas Specials?
