I wonder whether claires_dad will get a reply sooner rather than later regarding his programme listings dates for the 2016 issue. Past experience 99% suggests it will be 17th - 30th December.

As a side issue, where I work, we have all our Christmas 2015 issues still on sale. Plus we have an unopened bundle too that looks likely to be sent back. In my opinion, as much as the cover is fun and festive, it just doesn't look like a premium listings magazine when it's sat next to TVTimes, Total TV Guide or TV and Satellite Week. The covers on all three of those magazines are all much nicer. Plus, customers have said "What? Oh, I'll leave it then" when I tell them that it's £4.00. Could the 2015 issue be the lowest selling issue of all time? When will the figures be released?
Have since 2000 when I left m parents home, bought the Christmas issues. All filed away for the children i never had. My nephews and nieces are going to have fun if they go through my junk in 40 years time

But held off buying this years so far, £4.00 feels a lot of money for something that some newspapers (Sunday Times Culture) does. A listing of national to and radio.
The only thing RT does that freebies and others do not,.are local radio and some national commercial radio listings.

Wahey lets do it all again
I would like to echo that sentiment, marke09!

But are you sure about this:

August 21 - 16 October - wizzywicks Christmas TV quiz
On this page - http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...034082&page=29 - wizzywick wrote: "The Quiz will return next year with a new 6 week run starting on August 28th 2016."

Perhaps the date has changed and I've missed the posting? Please advise so that I can, if necessary, change the date in my calendar. As well as the ‘countdown to the quiz’ dates!

Thank you very much.

Surprisingly, I don't have any idea as to how many are in a bundle but it looks as though it is about 30. We get ours sent automatically based on the previous years sales, but my boss generally puts all the papers and magazines out rather than the staff - simply because he lives above the shop so is always up at 4.00am.
When i worked in a newsagent the Christmas issue was bundles of 20 rather than the normal 24!

They will be released sometime in February but sometimes they lump the Christmas issue sales with normal sales so we may not get a separate figure

IN case we have some new posters/lurkers

Here is a list of TEN programmes to be shown on Christmas Day

1- Brave
2- Stick Man
3-Dr Who
4-Striclty Come Dancing
5-Call the Midwife
6-Mrs Browns Boys
7-Michael McIntyre's Big Christmas Show
8-Downton Abbey
9-Our Cilla
10- Paul O'Grady's Dogs

TO ENTER:
Choose the SIX programmes you think will be the most watched on Christmas Day when the overnight ratings are announced on Boxing Day and guess the viewing figure for each programme

You can enter via PM or by posting public and to save you time you can enter by using the number corresponding to the programme and your viewing figure guess e.g 1- 5.75 (if you think Brave will get 5.75 million viewers)
Please ensure your viewing figure consists of three figures 0.00 etc

HOW IT WILL WORK
For each correct position your programmes are in the top six you will get 1pt (max 6pts)
Then for every 250,000 +/- to the actual viewing figure you get 6pts
500,000 +/- 5pts
1 million +/- 4pts
1,250,000 +/- 3pts
1,500,000 +/- 2pts
1,750,000 +/- 1pt

The winner will therfore be the one closest to 42pts

Last Years top five shows on Christmas Day were
Mrs Browns Boys 7.6
Strictly Come Dancing 7.34
Call The Midwife 6.8
Miranda 6.7
Dr Who 6.3

Entries close midnight December 22

thanks to all who have entered so far GOOD LUCK

I'm sorry, but I think it's a little sanctimonious, and quite frankly laughable, that you got the name of the thread starter changed just to suit your little games. We all know that TheSubaru2012 was the real starter of this thread, whether you like it or not. It doesn't change the fact that I like all of you, and that the threads each year are generally excellent, but really guys? Come on!

Thanks, lads. I went in a different shop, and spotted 13 copies yesterday (yes, I counted them! ), so I'll report back on how many are left the next time I go in there!

Mods - can you please just delete this thread so we can start again properly.

I assume the majority would support that.
It's pathetic when it's not even 2016.

Was in my local Tesco this morning and they'd at least 30 RT stacked in a neat pile not to mention those in the shelf with other guides nearly sold out. Looks like the RT returns skip will be full come New Year.

One of our customers who buys the RT each week always buys 3 copies of the Xmas RT so she can give one to her son and daughter-in-law and daughter and son-in-law. It is a tradition of hers. But this year she didn't. She simply couldn't justify spending £12 on three listings magazines when as she said "They buy the Daily Mail and there's a perfectly adequate one in there!" She did buy herself a copy though and said if it is more expensive next year she wouldn't buy it.

It seems that the credit crunch of the late noughties made people more money savvy and even a pretigious product name is no longer enough to guarantee huge sales. If the RT can't generate new readers from the Xmas issue, then what on earth is its long term future?

I'll let you into a secret. Last posting days are for consumers - not businesses. They will have their own deadlines. Remember, these businesses pay an awful lot of money to Royal Mail each year. The consumer deadline is designed to restrict a severe backlog of regular mail. Chances are you will receive your RT on Christmas Eve.

The other shops I mentioned had run out seemed to get fresh deliveries at the end of last week.
