He certainly rounds off the Day nicely. It would seem odd without him. Since 2011 he has been on Christmas Day every year apart from 2012. How about a new radical schedule this year? Wouldn't it be good if there's a secret two part Doctor Who that can air on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?

How about this for Christmas Eve night and Christmas Day night?

EVE:

6.10pm Celebrity Christmas Pointless
7.00 Doctor Who
8.00 EastEnders
8.30 The Great British Christmas Bake Off
9.30 Casualty
10.20 BBC News
10.40 The Graham Norton Christmas Show
11.40 Midnight Mass

DAY:

6.00 Doctor Who
7.00 Strictly Come Dancing
8.15 The Great British Christmas Bake Off
9.15 EastEnders
10.15 Mrs. Brown's Boys
10.50 Michael McIntyre's Christmas Show

BOXING:

6.00 Celebrity Mastermind
6.30 Peter Pan Goes Wrong
8.00 EastEnders
8.30 Call The Midwife
9.45 Witness for the Prosecution
10.45 BBC News
11.00 Match of the Day

HOLIDAY TUESDAY:

7.00 Celebrity Mastermind
7.30 EastEnders
8.00 Holby City
9.00 Witness for the Prosecution
10.00 Last Tango in Halifax

The Christmas Bake Off will be in the week or two before Christmas - because one of the things about it is you try and do the same as the bakers so you wont have time to do say a yule log if its on Christmas Eve and how many ppl are around on Christmas Eve all busy preparing , travelling,

Apparently a 90 minute special so will it fill the Downton spot?

Although Downton was normally a 2 hour special, it could fill some of it.

I think Grantchester will be Christmas day in place of Downton. Call The Midwife won't be saved for New Years either as they have been filming abroad. So I imagine they will want to show the episode on Christmas Day as always.

No I wasn't being sarcastic I do find it intriguing not so much the initial premise of the thread but the quality and scope of the discussion it generates well.... Intrigues me!

Thank you! It's nice to be here! I will try my best but at the moment my sleeping pattern is all haywire and out of kilter due to the Olympics!

These wonderful olympians have been keeping me entertained right into the early hour's bringing me all kinds of pleasure I find hard to resist!

A prize you say? Would it include a candlelit meal in an expensive restaurant with one of the hunky Olympic swimmers?

As intriguing as this thread might be, it doesnt have the budget to persuade Olympians to be lured to your realm of fantasy! Besides, I doubt their wives and girlfriends would be best pleased!

The Call the Midwife series' have always been shown on Sunday evenings and with Christmas Day this year being on a Sunday - I reckon Call the Midwife is a shoe-in for Christmas Day.

It's always on Christmas Day regardless of what day it falls on. I reckon Strictly, Dr Who and Mrs Brown's Boys are shoe-ins too.

no way will Bake Off be on Christmas Day unless its a repeat on BBC Two - as i said earlier one of the reason sits popular is people try out some of the bakers recipes bit late to do that on Christmas night and they wont put a very popular drama on Christmas Eve the audience is not really there

BTW seeing as tomorrow sees the start of the quiz how nice of Channel 5 to get us in the mood with a whole day of Christmas films and programmes
