Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the third annual Quiz! Hard to believe that it's been a whole year since I launched the last one - and so much has happened. This year, I am renaming the Quiz to give it a more memorable and permanent title. As of now, the Quiz will be known as:

THE BIG QUIZMAS CHALLENGE 2016

which makes today Quizmas day!

So, let's get started. As per the norm, you need to be able to see the rules. I posted these in full a couple of days ago, and if you want to see them, click onto the link below:

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...&postcount=780

Just a reminder that this year you can have two FREE lifelines called a White Card. If you come across a question that you are stuck on, ask me for a clue and I will provide one for you. You can use this "White Card" twice. If you need further clues, I will provide them, but at a cost of 1 point per clue. But, use your lifelines carefully because at the very end, they could make a difference between winning and not winning! See the rules for full details.

THE PRIZES:

First Prize:
A Poster of a classic 1950's Radio Times Christmas Cover, A Tea Towel featuring the 1977 Christmas RT Cover, a Stainless Steel Keyring engraved with "Radio Times Quiz Winner 2016", a Wall Poster Calendar for 2017 featuring three RT covers and a boxed set of 101 postcards all featuring a different Radio Times cover.
Second Prize:
A Tea Towel featuring the 1977 Christmas Cover and a Wall Poster Calendar for 2017 featuring three RT covers.
Third Prize:
A Wall Poster Calendar for 2017 featuring three RT covers.
Special Draw Prize for those who scored 70 points or more:
A Wall Poster Calendar for 2017 featuring three RT covers.

THE SCORECARD:

Each week I will post the scores of each player in a simplified manner. I will first post how much they scored for the particular week, then beside that I will post the running score. For example:

wizzywick: 10 - 10

This will help you keep track of your scores and running totals.

THE QUIZ:

So, let's get started. Time to post the first ten Questions; so, here we go:

The Big Quizmas Challenge 2016: Week 1:

1. “If adventure had a name, it would have to be………..” who, according to a BBC1 Christmas trailer from 1987?

2. Which actor played Doctor Dolittle and Professor Higgins in two of the BBC's frequently shown classic musical films?

3. Which film premiere on BBC2 during Christmas 1985 was set on and under the streets of Paris?

4. Which classic sitcom character adorned a pigsty with Christmas decorations in the form of newspaper paper chains?

5. What was being Swapped with Carol Smillie on Christmas Eve 2000?

6. Which Alan Davis romantic comedy pilot received a Christmas Day screening on BBC1?

.

7. In what year was it shown?

8. Which year, on New Year's Eve, did the last ever “The Good Old Days” air?

9. Which BBC Films festive comedy starring Martin Freeman centres around a primary school and an irritating classroom assistant called “Mr. Poppy”?

10. Which Benidorm star featured in the first Christmas special of Call the Midwife in 2012?

All answers to be sent to me by Personal Message only by midnight next Saturday (27th). See rules for full details, but any entry received after the deadline will not be accepted and your score will be affected.

So, good luck, and happy Quizmas!

Just a reminder to everyone that the winner of the quiz will be the person who scores the most points overall. That doesnt mean the winner has to score 86. Just wanted you to bear that in mind. You might not know all the answers this week, but someone else might not next week when you do!

While everyone is in quiz mode I'm in the process of devising a little just for fun quiz to bridge the gap between October (when wizzywick's quiz finishes) until I start the Guess the Cover of the Christmas Radio Times Competition on 1st November.

Working title of the quiz is "FFQQ"

Sounds intriguing! The scary thing is is that your Cover Competition will be here before we know it! And, I can even envisage the fateful day when we're all saying this year's cover is nowhere near as good as last year's - even though last year's was largely disliked!
