At £2.30 the Xmas issue just purchased may well be the last Radio Times I buy. I struggle to justify a 30p rise for a weekly magazine. How much are the weekly versions of Total TV Guide, does anyone know. I suppose emailing the editor will be pointless.

Mine arrived today as well. I can cope with the price increase because, in my opinion, it's a much better magazine than any of the competitors. If I only wanted TV and radio listings I could get them online without paying a penny. But I do enjoy the Radio Times and will continue to subscribe, while taking advantage of every special offer that comes along!

Total TV Guide has just gone up to £1.15

I tweeted RT earlier asking to justify this 15% price rise or 100% price rise in 5 years - nothing back - they only seem to reply to favourable tweets

I wonder if Aldi will have a new advert for 2016, I do not think I could stand another year of "My Favourite Things"

if the price increase had still gone up by 20p by 2020 it would go up to £6 but as it stands it would cost you £6.50 with the extra 10p rise so unless they put it up again then you could be looking at £7

Is it safe to assume Radio Times isn't one of the prices used to calculate inflation figures?

No way am I paying the thick end of a fiver for a telly listings mag.

I'm no fan of the publication, but the listings guide in the Daily Mail is generally pretty good. Even has some radio listings.

Totally agree with you. I will continue to buy the RT 52 weeks of the year as I always do. Clearly I would prefer not to pay an extra 30p per week, but there is no other magasine of the same ilk out there, it is not just about the listings themselves, agreed. Makes me laugh people that moan about a 30p rise but think nothing of the same rise to their packet of fags or pint in the pub.

Right the results of the ratings game

Downton Abbey 6.58
Strictly Come Dancing 6.49
Mrs Brown's Boys 6.41
Stick Man 6.36
Call The Midwife 5.80
Dr Who 5.77

After working it out we had a tie between Cully83 and Tanni both on 29 out of 42

After the first tie break (who had a viewing figure nearly exact it ended up level again)
After the second tie break (who had the most number of correct positions it ended up in a tie again)

SO the third tie breaker was who was closest to the winning programme in terms of viewers and that finally gave us a winner so congratulations goes to .... (drum roll, waits 30 seconds) CULLY 83

2nd place - Tanni 29pts
3 Marke09 22pts
4 Claires Dad 20pts
5 Aarron Cardwell 19pts

I had my Radio Times for 2-8 Jan on Wednesday, so I bought a TV Times yesterday, as a little something extra to read. It feels a bit thin! Does it normally only have 100 pages?

If they continue to treat customers with contempt they may not see 2020

TTVG recently put their price up by a modest 5p to £1.15 which was their first price increase in at least 2 years. If any telly guide is worth a bigger increase it's TTVG.

I thought Total TV Guide had already had one increase this year.

Glad I won the Ratings Comp but well done to Joint 1st place!

I am a Total TV Guide customer but I love this post and I have bought the Christmas Radio Times almost every Christmas (inc this year).
However I feel £1.15 a week is fine for a TV Mag, especially considering you can read most of the Radio Times articles online and save a bit of money.
I do prefer to have TV listings in a mag instead of online so for that reason I haven't made a complete switch to online TV guide yet.

Yes they did but also one of the December issues had a special 0.70p price too

On Saturday I will lunch a new feature - THE Post Christmas Postmortem

What went wrong (looking at the figures quite a lot as nothing so far has had over 7 million in overnights)
What went right?
Where have the viewers gone?
Could the BBC with the cuts on the way decide what's the point of spending millions on special programmes if no one is going to watch them?

Also your Nominations please for

The Best programme on TV Christmas 2015

Most Disappointing programme on TV Christmas 2015 (thats one you were looking forward to but was a let down)

Most surprising progamme ( the one you didnt expect to like but did)

Please leave it till Saturday in case the best of the TV is still to come
