The problem with Dickensian was that they moved it around to much like it was filler material. I know there were 20 episodes but it seemed like they wanted to show them quick. It would have been better if they were on Monday and Friday at 8:30 for 10 weeks.
I do agree, the scheduling of the episodes was a mess!

you been looking at my schedules? I have Dickensian in one hour slots every afternoon for ten days!
That would have been nice. It would be good for a repeat in the Doctors slot when it finishes for Christmas.

You guys are very chatty today! You keep making this week's quiz questions slip down a page quicker than I can put them up!

Mind you, it's good to see how busy this thread has got. I predict this year's thread will be almost twice the size of last year's once the 2017 thread is up band running.

Quiz questions are on page 49.

Actually the Christmas special of still open all hours could air on Christmas eve and the new series starting on Christmas day as it usually as a Sunday time slot
Doubt it, if the BBC1 Christmas Day schedules follow the same line up as recent years, which they almost certainly will, there's no slot for Open All Hours late afternoon/early evening. My Xmas Day prediction for BBC1.

Highway Rat is commissioned for Christmas 2017. This year it is two episodes of Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes.

I'm really looking forward to Revolting Rhymes. I wonder if they will do anymore Roald Dahl books?. I'd love to see them do George's Marvellous Medicine!.

Actually, so far, they've been quite well made and entertaining. Christmas TV is meant to be fluffy and enjoyable and, yes, we are getting another adaptation. This year it's Awful Aunt.

Tell me Billy, what do you enjoy watching? I ask because you're quite negative towards many things that have been mentioned thus far.

I think it's Awful Auntie this year, the worst book of them all. I liked Mr Stink, Gangsta Granny and The Boy In The Dress. Billionaire Boy was ok but the cast wasn't right I think.
The Demon Dentist is next year which is a better story.

I don't like John bishop, Michael McIntyre, Sarah Millican or David Walliams apart from them I'm pretty happy

Just had an email from the BBC: There will be 9, 35 minute episodes of Revolting Rhymes! Oh, and 6 Strictly Specials along with an extra episode of EastEnders each evening including an interval episode in the middle of the Queen's Speech.

Good luck with re-arranging your schedules to sort that lot out!

It makes you think when you play being a scheduler the hard work that actually goes into scheduling Christmas TV

I had a go and you have to seriously think about what is best where. Do you have any Only Fools And Horses, My Family, The Vicar Of Dibley or The Royle Family repeats in your schedule? I think those will be back this year.

I loved the Dad's Army docu-drama last year, David Croft did lots of sitcoms could easily make The Hi-De-Hi Story or Are You Being Served?.

Can you imagine how hard it would have been when each year both ITV and BBC had different, varied programmes to schedule against each other?

These days it's generally the same menu of soaps and usual fodder.
