This series of The Great British Bake Off will be the last, which means Christmas Bake Off will probably also be a goodbye special.

The Great British Bake Off is leaving the BBC. Love Productions did not accept the BBC's revised offer.

If I was the BBC I would not use Love Productions for any future commission.

wonder if this will have any implications for broadcasters

In August 2016, NBCUniversal, whose subsidiary Universal Pictures entered a distribution deal with the live-acton DreamWorks studio via Amblin Partners, acquired DreamWorks Animation for $3.8 billion.[65][6] DreamWorks Animation's distribution contract with 20th Century Fox will conclued in 2018, after which Universal is expected to handle future releases, starting with The Croods 2.[66][67]

Can't see Christmas bake off being a main fixture in the schedules any more then if there is bad blood , probably be on in the run up now or hidden away somewhere

I had a go and you have to seriously think about what is best where. Do you have any Only Fools And Horses, My Family, The Vicar Of Dibley or The Royle Family repeats in your schedule? I think those will be back this year.
I have a Royle Family tribute to Caroline Aherne scheduled for New years Day cant fit it in on Christmas Night

Regarding Bake Off the BBC have a clause that if they lose the rights no other broadcaster can show a series in 2017

I'm sure it was on a Tuesday after Holby City in 2014?. Only Fools And Horses was Christmas Day in the morning and My Family Christmas Day in the afternoon, not sure about The Vicar Of Dibley.
I'd love to see all these as they are classics.

Mary and Paul have already said they won't do it if it's not the BBC. Love Productions must be mad without Mary and Paul nobody will want it anyway.

Christmas bake off know, I actually wouldnt be surprised if they put it on BBC2, the week before Christmas week, and put it on after Newsnight.

.Makes you wonder, if the BBC had its way, the rest of this series, would be tucked away somewhere

I would be very surprised if Mary and Paul left. The BBC are very good to them both. They are both on the radio regularly and both get their own baking shows every year.
They could probably make a new show like the Bake Off anyway. Love Productions are just crazy.

Next August on BBC1:

Paul and Mary's Baking Challenge

Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry judge a brand new baking competition where each week 12 contestants compete to bake a spectacular cookery masterpiece based on Paul and Mary's own recipes. Presented by Mel and Sue, the contestants will be judged on their efforts and after the masterpiece round, they will be allowed to create a freedom bake where they can use anything and bake anything. One contestant will be crowned Premier Baker and another will be sent home.

Love Productions said the BBC had revised its offer to them ahead of Monday but it was rejected.

Asked if the decision could be reversed, they said it could not.

I loved the Dad's Army docu-drama last year, David Croft did lots of sitcoms could easily make The Hi-De-Hi Story or Are You Being Served?.
That was very good. Would like to see it repeated.
